Phoenix sights

#1 Postby wilson85 » Wed Jun 07, 2017 7:41 pm

Hi all

Just a quick question to ask if anyone uses Phoenix Sights and do they make a mount for a Barnard?

Cheers

Anthony

Yep, I use them. Not sure about the Barnard mount though but I'd say yes.
For the same system as the warner sights with the bronze guides at a fraction of the price. Can't fault them.

May also be interested in one of these in the future, does anyone know if they come in a barnard dove tail mount/configuration?
Is there an Australia distributor or do you need to order from some outlet overseas (if so, does anyone have a link)??

Had the opportunity to have a close look at one a few months back and it definitely seemed to be a quality item.

Does the link work on anyone else's computer? Have tried on my iPhone, iPad and laptop. No good. Would like to email them with a few questions

I use one and find it very good quality. Easier to buy sight from creedmoor and Barnard mount from John widden gun supplies. The mount may be available through one off precision. I think John will make one for Barnard action. Side mount.

G'day Rob,

Thanks for your advice mate. I will take it onboard. I emailed Phoenix last weekend and haven't had a reply. I will get onto Creedmoor Sports and Whidden Gunworks.

I would like half minutes on windage, so I might have to get Creedmoor to order them for me.

I tried in the past to get 1/4 and 1/2 min, they only do (did) 1/4 min movement on both.

I was just having a look at these sights on the creedmoor website and to me, it looks like the turrets turn the same as a scope. Which is opposite to a central. Or have I got it wrong?

For US sights you need to ask for "Service Direction" otherwise they will be "Match" which is same as small bore and scopes.

I sent an enquiry to Phoenix Precision and wanted to update here, just incase anyone else is interested in what I have learned.

They do not sell a Phoenix sight that interfaces directly with a dovetail. Only Picatinny, Weaver and a Side Mount options.
The Pic/Weaver top mount sights are intended for AR platforms (and as such there is a possibility that they could sit very high).
They recommended the side mount option for Fullbore.

It has put me off, as I intentionally had my Barnard action factory optioned with a dove tail. So I will be looking for a sight to suit that. (I have a pic rail and side block, but won't go that direction as I think that if I can find a quality dovetail mounting sight it will give me more precise options when positioning it on the receiver and may well offer the lowest position option.. resulting in unstoppable accuracy ;) [Yea, I know that an alternate way of achieving a low rear sight is to use a non fixed/ elevated front sight and leave the rear sight in a more consistent position]

I guess Centra offer a dovetail compatible top sight and that may be the way to go.. more research required.
