Let's not forget the big incentive to run events Stateside. Charge $250 a pop & for every 100 entrants you get, you have 25 grand to play with.

I certainly don't want to start any bad karma , but imagine charging that for a Queens ? I'm happy with my patches of cloth! We have a good sport to play with in f class ! And it's priced Fairly as can be expected!

As for the prs , they run a series at Millmerran every 3 Rd Sunday at 12:30 .

Think about the cost for a lead up and Queens series. Its usiually 300 or more combined. Not much different....

The first PRS series will have an allowance for 100 competitors to sign up, at a value of $250 for spots, from reports from hose running it, it is close to full.

John, your maths is almost prophetic.

As for costs for a full queens shoot, I don't recall paying less than $250 to shoot it, ever...

I would love to have a crack at this for something different. Quite a few F classers in my area have customized hunting/tactical type rifles which will work well.

Ruger Precision rifle in 6.5 creedmore be a good starting package at just over $2K but heavily backordered unfortunately.
That would be the most popular cartridge in the US for this sport as lower recoil than 308 with better BC and very accurate cartridge.
Recoil is an issue because this is an individual sport and the ability for the shooter to spot strikes at distance is critical.
For this reason a brake would be very useful or if we were in the states or NZ or UK a suppressor even better.
Some of the shooting positions can be very inventive?
The guys i know in West Texas have a match shooting off/through a cargo net?!

Or for another $1K or so the new Tikka Tac3?

The fast 6mms seem to be very popular as well, 6mm creedmore and 6x47L are right up there.

Its a trade off between wind bucking, flat trajectory, and as little recoil as possible for this shooting. Trade off being barrel life with the fast 6mm. Many go for the 260 or 6.5 CM as the best overall balance.

Sounds like a great sport which should attract the "young blokes (and gals)". The only thing that will hold it back in some States of OZ is the use of steel targets.

Having recently been through the Range RE- Approval process in NSW, we had to forego any type of metal targets, and even had to remove or sandbag any, and I mean, any, exposed metal up the range. We had to wrap our 100yd flag pole in timber cladding.

Maybe the SSAA will have the dollars to develop Ranges with the required Templates.

Any range that shoot the metalic shilloutte matches will be fine for it. Problem is that they only goto 500m usually. Otherwise the shoot has to be done on private land?

7mm produces to much recoil when positional shooting. Harder to spot your misses. Every rifle that you see in PRS competition has either a muzzle brake or suppressor fitted to help mitigate recoil.

Next time you goto a range, put the 308 on the harris again and play around with different positions and you will see the issues with recoil. There is a tactical devision for 308 and 223 but guys running 308 havr 26 to 30 in barrels to get the MV out of the bullets and they have brakes aswell. My next 308 barrel fot my practical rifle will have a brake and 28 to 30" heavy palma contour for it

Ok , what are the size of the targets 2 Moa or more across ?
Yes , I would most likely stick to the good old 308 class! I already have a number of cals to keep tuned already!

Depends what the match director sets up. Usually 2moa or less I think.
