Just wondering if anyone knows whats happening at this club? Looks like they are only shooting 22lr.

Noticed that there is Rimfire shoots for the past few weeks. Why isn't there any Centre fire shoots?

Also according to HEX they are using the 400m targets when they advertise they shoot the 200m distance rimfire? Can someone explain why the club is doing this ?

I was just talking the the narrowmine dubbo guys and while they are doing the range upgrades they will only be shooting rimfire till they are finished.

Did they say why they are using the 400m targets while shooting 200m rimfire ?

Geez that’s ordinary if true, Isn’t that giving members a false sense of ability for how they are really going ? If any members go to shoot somewhere else this will be massive disadvantage for them . Although they can look at the group scores for a comparison on how they are going compared to other shooters outside there club. ( no one should take the points serious just go off groups ? )

It's a club shoot who cares !! There is no official 200m target, considering a rimfires ballistics the 400m target might be a good fit. Anyway it's up to them.
Clubs are free to do what they want provided they don't contravene any saftey rules / regulations.

A few years back our local club was almost gone. A few local pistol shooters including myself, joined to keep it alive. Then a bunch of us turned up on a Sunday with no idea what F-Class or a target rifle was.

There was remnants of targets left and most were eaten by white ants! We got the local sign writer to cut out some stickers of pigs, foxes and rabbits. With still no idea we drew circles of what we thought would be reasonable for scoring rings. We had a match! This happened most Sundays for near on a year.
We only had hunting rifles. Once we got "normal" targets we would schedule 700yd - 900yd matches on months where we thought we would have no wind!

Now a few years later we have about 30 members, shotmarker targets and a club house. We now shoot 900 yards whether it's windy or not.

And like Matt said who cares! As long as you can shoot and have fun. Everything is done safely. If you hear a bang and smell burnt powder it's a good day!

Rimfire F class is getting popular in USA and would be good to have here but not sure what the participation rate would be.
At least it could be shot on days which noise limits normally count out any shooting.

western area shooters who are looking for an alternative to a range that can only shoot 22s, maybe interested to know that work on the orana shooting complex is progressing on schedule.
according to local gunshop gossip, when completed in october it will provide members with a dedicated covered centrefire bench line (with fields of fire out to 500 metres and 1500 metres), numerous shotgun ranges and a separate covered rimfire range and bench line.

After another poor attendance at the Narromine Dubbo rifle club this weekend, with the last month of deceasing numbers on a weekly basis and with according to there web page of the nearly completed of Reno’s, you would think the club would start shooting centre fire ASAP to try and rebuild shooter numbers, Why is there a decrease in numbers from being one of the biggest clubs in NSW to only a handful on a weekly basis over the last few months . Any reasons ?? What is the hold up with the butt ? and a confirmation date on when they will be shooting centre fire would be nice for the club members
