What are latest postal rules for shipping barrels to OZ.
I will be ordering a Broughton barrel from USA and was just checking to see what the latest rules are for bringing barrels in. Is Australia post still refusing to carry them? If so which couriers are happy to ship rifle parts to OZ?

Although this is an older post, it is often asked.
You need a FA delaer license to begin with, than apply for an import permit (can't remember the form number), then have it imported by a licensed person / company, then have it fitted (usually by a licensed 'smith).
Good luck getting one without the paperwork.

I have since gone the easy way and got someone else to import the barrel and it will be here soon. Now how about rifle stocks? Do we need a B709 to import a rifle stock? I have a McMillan stock for a hunting rifle which will be ready soon, will I need a B709 for it in NSW? If so, who do we apply to for the paperwork in NSW?

if you visit this link http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4372 you will find all the appropriate links to the forms required,
furthermore this is quoted from the nsw police.
Purchase of firearms from Interstate or Overseas
If the firearm is to be purchased from Interstate or Overseas, you will still require a permit to acquire the firearm. In addition you will need to locate a NSW Firearms Dealer to arrange for the transfer of the firearm from Interstate to the NSW Firearms Dealer.
Once the firearm is received, the Dealer will undertake necessary steps to register the firearm in NSW and transfer the ownership of the firearm to the holder of the Permit to Acquire a Firearm.
