How would a Prize Meeting go on grand final Day.
Are members more interested in footy than perhaps going to a 2 or 3 day PM. What's your thought on this good, bad or indifferent.

What's 'footy'?
If it's rugby league, rugby union, AFL or football, I'll be on the range.

Depends who's playing. It's good to support your favourite club and also enjoyable watching the Pies get rolled by a few points.
I would rather be at a prize meeting though.

Quiet day on our range today. A number of regulars were doing GF type activities.

No shooting at Moe Peter, but a lot done renovating upper targets for the coming Pennant season. Great enthusiasm by many intent on making the range look a picture. Lot of bullshit and banter that made for a pleasant day. The general feeling perhaps is the Grand final Day is a lazy family day.
Although I would like to see a prestigious pairs competition be established. A paid entry of course to take out a casual attitude to such an event.
It would be an opportunity for those older guys with failing eyesight but sound wind reading skills to impart knowledge to young hotshots you often see get burnt when the pressure is on but together their average scores would rise to test themselves against better shots. More ranges could be shot on the day in a well run pairs event. Start small, think big.

Considering the current gloomy state of affairs it might serve the organization better if the VRA conducted a three day " come and try " on Wellsford.

Yep, what Tim said. I would much rather shoot.
I just hope that if someone is holding a 3 day OPM, they do something other than the standard 2+10 at 500,500,600.
It would be great if they would try some pairs firing (Bisley style), longer ranges, longer shot strings.

It’s hard enough getting shooters to attend a pm let alone on a grand final day. But, yes, some variety in ranges etc would be good.
However, it’s not all about PMs. Membership begins at club level, we have to build up members, who then may go to PMs.
Now a dangerous question. For those members that attend almost every PM and those that attend almost every Queens, and those that attend numerous overseas events. How much do you do to build up membership at club level ?
Club membership is where we begin and which supports all the rest.

You might as well be yourself, everyone else is already taken.

barry makes a good point.
maybe grand final day would be a good day for such a thing.
this because the attendees would be higher potential for serious membership.
always good to apply effort to non tyre kickers.
keep safe,
bruce.
