Re: Ultra Long Range Challenge (NSW) 7-10 October 2016

Unfortunately the NSW Match Rifle Association advises that due to the large amount of rain which has fallen in the Coonabarabran area, the Ultra Long Range Challenge from 7-10 October has had to be cancelled. The range has had a huge amount of rain and is not suitable for traffic. With a forecast fo...

Re: F-class is an advanced discipline. $ stops new shooters

The sporting/hunting F Class outlined above is exactly where F Class started about 20 years ago. (Fun Class) At Nowra we used to shoot the above and then we introduced Precision Long Range Rifle - now known as F Open. We were the Club that had all the original F Open 10 ring targets printed and woul...

Re: ULTRA LONG RANGE CHALLENGE

John. The targets for 1000, 1100 and 1200 will be the Match Rifle targets. The 1500 yard target will be the 700 metre target. They will all have an "X" ring. Alan. My understanding is that the Coonabarabran range is a classification 7.62 range and as such 300 win mag are not approved. Shou...

Re: MolyCoated Projectiles

Mike H is on the money. I too have been using Moly coated projectiles for 15years without any problems. Moly does not start to metl until 1185degC. It take an awful lot of energy (that is, temperature and pressure, a pressure far in excess of what we experience in a chamber) to get the Sulphur atom ...

Re: F CLASS 'X' RING

I am referring to the 'X' ring or super 'V' only. On the 300m target this is 35mm. Just slightly larger than a 50 cent coin. At Nowra, we run a white X on our electronic targets. The afternoon sun shines on our targets. Target Rifle shooters have never complained. We are only talking about a very sm...

F CLASS 'X' RING

Looking for comments on having the F Class 'X' ring in WHITE. In most cases the centre is Black. In bad light, rain etc finding the centre is difficult, through most scopes. Personally, I struggled to get a focus/sighting on the centre in the recent Canberra Queens during the light, misty rain. Comm...

Re: Cost of our sport

Yes, it can be expensive. But,as pointed out, not as expensive as many other sports. I brought the issue of costs up at last NSWRA Council Meeting. I suggested that we should take a serious look at our cost structures for further discussion. As President of Nowra Rifle Club I can tell you that we ha...

Re: Static electricity

The solvents such as xylene, toluene, mineral turps etc have antistatic agents added to prevent static build up when they are being poured into mixing tanks. The tanks also have earth straps attached. If this is not done the the solvent builds up a static head and a spark discharge may occur causing...
