Re: sara queens

I know some of the S.A shooters consider themselves to be god like figures, but now I think they might be actually controlling the weather. It seems there will be light winds leading up to the shoot, then it gets windy for the 5 days of competition then turns calm again the day after the Queens fini...

Re: sara queens

I have been trying to enter online but SARA website has been down. Their phone is not getting through either.
Any idea what is going on at the office?

Re: Victorian Queens Series - 2018

Rod not sure if I understand what you mean about the squadding. My idea of the best squadding would be to put say the F open toped ranked shooters all in first place on a board on different targets then the next ranked shooters in second place. So for instance in the Vic Queens all the F Open shoot...

Re: Victorian Queens Series - 2018

I'm home and all unpacked now finally. Once again, congrats to Duncan Davies for his first Queens win and also to Danny for his F std win and Rod Mahon for his F/tr win. It was a very enjoyable and well run shoot, I don't know why I never made it down here for so long but I will be returning for sur...

Re: Can we shoot ssaa disciplines on an nraa range

There is no reason you cant shoot 600yd BR at your range, it is in the NRAA SSRs.

One obstacle with Flyshoots on some ranges might be using steel sighter plates as used in Fly shoots.

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

The format could easily be televised simply by using a hexta/ozscore frame behind or a silver mountain in front of the manually marked ( official) target. What an oppertunity for the manufacturers! I would also assume that for the CG each shooter would have their own target face so markers could pa...

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

At the end of day 2 (of 3) in the individuals, Jim Bailey is in the lead, a few Vs ahead of Englands Dave Luckman, with Ben Emms 3 points back in 3rd. So far it has only been short range, 300-600yds, but tomorrow is 900 and 1000yds so it is all still open for anyone.

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

My negative comments were not about the broadcast or media, but about the experience for on range spectators. A live running tally of scores and leader board is what all other shooting disciplines provided. If they can make 50m free pistol exciting (and they did), then fullbore should have no probl...

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

Why couldn't the cameras be zoomed in on the targets or show the plot boards which are behind each shooter? There is nothing wrong with the setup at Belmont, it is one of the most suitable ranges in the world, if the media really wanted to do something with it. They can make golf look interesting an...

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

The Target Rifle pairs, with Benn Emms and Jim Bailey shooting together will be on Tuesday 10th and the individuals will be on Thursday 12th. I'm not working those days so I will be scanning the games channels for footage. Rod, the pairs are on Monday and Tuesday and the individual is on Wednesday,...

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

Is the TR comp shot on ET's , if so can it be accessed for live viewing? I'm told by an ex Com games shooter that ET's will never be used again for this competition after what happened in India with Et's. I may be wrong but info I have is they already have markers and Butts officers. Correct. Manua...

Re: Shooting in Commonwealth Games

As far as Birmingham goes, at this stage, there is no shooting at all scheduled. But, there is supposed to be quite a few countries getting together straight after the closing ceremony to put pressure on them to re-include it. The excuse for not having shooting in Birmingham was lack a facilities!!...

Shooting in Commonwealth Games

With the Commonwealth Games underway it was good to see the commentators mentioning so many shooters in the opening ceremony. Even a non shooter workmate remarked how many competitors they mentioned and acknowledged as shooters as the various countries filed past. It was at least some sort of positi...
