Re: Load tune vs barrel tune

I have always previously loaded for accuracy with very little or no regard for ES. I've always done my testing at mid to long range and achieved mostly "acceptable" results while continuously looking for ways to improve. After developing several barrels to what I felt were the best they co...

Load tune vs barrel tune

What I mean by load tune vs barrel tune is how many of you are tuning for accuracy with little or no regard for ES and purely looking for accuracy and who of you are tuning your loads for low ES and maybe adjusting barrel tuner later?? I have been messing around with a couple of new barrels lately w...

Re: What's going on here?

Did you make adjustments before it "settled" or did it just settle back to original sighting position? I have also seen scope issues where the reticle movement effectively stops while winding the turret and then re starts or jumps creating a dead spot with erratic tracking. Not saying this...

Re: Range incident today

Id be staying well away from anyone who mounts a scope like that! Shows that at least one link in the chain has NFI!

I'm glad it wasn't worse

Re: Lets play a game !!

I have one myself and testing it against the magneto speed and agreed they seem to be accurate and reliable.

I was just curious what you were using as a chronograph as you have decimal points on your speeds as mine only shows whole units?

Re: Lets play a game !!

Are the velocities your getting from an ET? Is this accurate enough to give reliable measurements?

From what I've seen FO calibers pushing the high BC bullets at high velocity hold accuracy out to 800ish yds even with often poor ES.

Re: Cream of Wheat fire forming ?

I while ago I used to use pistol powders with a toilet paper plug and cases formed 90% of the way but then I started to wonder about what it was doing to the rifling, just skipping over the top like that, maybe nothing but I didn't want to risk it with good barrels after that. Now I just use trail ...

Re: 2209 batch 5273 in 7saum

I have just got a Saum up and running and have found 55.4 of 2209 was giving me a nice group running at 2940. This was 180 VLD in a 32 inch barrel.(I have been told this is a fast barrel). Its not the same batch as yours. I found the groups better around 2940 to be better than higher f/s, I did run...

2209 batch 5273 in 7saum

I have been playing with a barrel and haven't been getting much love with my usual tricks so I decided to try some 2209. A great powder which I don't use much of nowadays with my 6.5x47 barrels gathering dust. Out of interest I loaded up a little ladder starting at 56.1. Which STARTED at 3000fps. . ...

Re: Importing an action???

Unless things have changed, you will get one from Bruno's a hell of a lt quicker than from BAT. If Lester has one....it's for sale. I put my name as the Importer. Everyone...including Weapons Lic and Customs said " you can't do that", but when challenged to show me in writing where the La...

Re: Chronograph accuracy

They won't export due to the restrictions on privately owned radar strength. . . . . . They are probably concerned someone is going to link them together in an array for accurate targeting and shoot 180gr bergers at a battle ship or something ?!?! [-X

Re: Chronograph accuracy

My current thoughts on chronos : Magnetospeed if used correctly seems to be the most useful, because it remains stable regardless of location, lighting conditions etc. So even if its shot to shot precision isn't quite up to the ones with a longer base between sensors, it is a good way of comparing ...
