Re: Barnard V block dimensions

Thank you very much oh knowledgeable ones!

Pete good point regarding convex blocks. What's your thoughts on heavily relieving (1-2mm) the central section effectively leaving two V topped pillars 25mm long they are still connected by the lower section of the block?

Alpha munitions brass

Has anyone played with Alpha Munitions brass? Looking at some of the photos and info out there and it looks like it could be an option possibly better than lapua so I put and order in for some to try. I think they are only making 308, 6mm Creedmoor and 6.5 Creedmoor at this stage with both small and...

Re: March ELR scope

anything with FFP and PRS in its concept is 30% over priced. With PRS I've never seen a sport so reliant on technique yet marketed with rubbish toys in my life!

Re: March ELR scope

Same as an old Lyman with external adjustments except they have built a sealed housing around it. :-)

Great until unless rest the tube against something and pushes AWAY from the adjustment turret.

Re: 6.5x284 load data

No mention of 2213SC? Of the ADI powders, this splits 2209 and 2217 in burn rate. Alan you probably would have burnt more barrels than anyone in OZ with this cal and as you suggest 2213 would probably be the best choice but I keep stocks of 2209 and 2217 for other cals and id like to consolidate if...

6.5x284 load data

I've had a bit of a fun gun built on a tikka action, 26" barrel with a short (standard) throat length. I have a few 130gr bergers laying around that I might try for long range with some 95gr vmax for other duties. I know the majority of shooters who used this Cal in the hay day would have used ...

Re: lower light has been conquered

Well done Mark! Mirage is tough down here at the moment and winds can be average to unreadable so an even bigger achievement.

Don't underestimate Mark at any level because the man can shoot!

Re: BEST SCOPE FOR F OPEN

I personally like the Nightforce comp. There may be other scopes that have INDIVIDUAL features that are better than the NF but I think the NF is a good package. I like the size and weight, easy to read windage and elevation (not just number size but that the increments are in a incremental order), C...

Throat angle

With the newer VLD and hybrid type bullets what is the ideal throat. Throat angle as defined by PTG reamer print as I'd call it the lead angle but they'd know better. Also two other measurements which seem obsolete to me are the length from boltface to "throat" and the diameter given at th...

Re: RECOIL and THE BLOEMING CASE

I think you will see the top 4 calibers will be 284, 284 "improved" (AI, KMR, shehane), 7saum and 300wsm with the last two making up the majority.

Recoil comes down to a lot of things but stock design and bag setup can make all the difference if done correctly.

Re: Newby question about barrels

gyro. If you had two pieces of 20mm thick flat bar and you wanted them to be 15mm thick. you take one and put it on the mill and gradually deck it down to 15mm in .5mm passes with cutting fluid running over it. You now have a piece of flat bar 15mm thick you take your second piece of 20mm flat bar a...
