Re: Hexagonal Boron Nitride

When I shot FS back in 2009, HBN was a dream come true. Good velocities, sweet cleaning process, excellent accuracy. However, I could not get it to work in my Match rifle with 208 Hornadies & 210 Bergers & SMKs. the velocity spreads sucked & there was bugger all difference velocitywise b...

Never used acetone - just one of those smash shop degreasers - PrepClean or whatever name it goes under at Super Cheap or the like. It didn't mess the tip.

Accurate Shooter Forum

Looks like they're under sever attack at the moment with the new posts lists totally flooded with rubbish in some oriental text. One of several new today members I looked at has the best part of 250 postings already.

I suggest that you stay clear until they've sorted the mess out.

Re: BURRIS XTR-II F CLASS SCOPE 8-40 FFP with MOA reticle

Way back I wanted a NF 12-42 but thought the adjustment was too petite, so I bought an 8-32 & fitted it with a BulzEyePro 3X booster, which took it up to the 42 power I wanted, more or less. The trick with that add on though is to read the recommendations on the web site & don't try to outsm...

Wish we could get range approval & insurance for that.

Re: RECOIL and THE BLOEMING CASE

All this isn't new.

When I was a lad, I can recall my father's shooting mates sitting round & yarning & more than occasionally they commented on case design - I think - with the phrase:

Short & thick does the trick; long & thin goes too far in.

Re: omark/sportco?

Check to see if somebody hasn't run a ¼UNF tap up the recoil lug, in which case both screws should be the same thread on that one.

It happened as often as not when socket head screws came into use.

How many are you willing to pay for is the likely answer. Scroll down the Phoenix club web site. I count 30 targets.

Re: Travelling to and from shoots and fatigue

I wonder what the legalities or liabilities are if someone was travelling with firearms, had an accident and was carted off in an ambulance unconscious while the firearms were unkowingly left with the vehicle?? There are certain states where your rifle, ammo & bolt must be separately secured to...

Re: Travelling to and from shoots and fatigue

Never done a long drive right after a shoot. I've always preferred to get a good night's sleep & take off at sparrow fart next day. There's a double benefit to that. You get a lot of road under your wheels while you're fresh & before the commercial traffic gets going. It's all good as long a...

Re: F Class Competition in Australia

Then there's the issue for ranges with ETs - nobody likes to see expensive equipment shot up just to satisfy a fleld shooter who's rifle "will hold MOA all day out to 1000 yards". Come to think of it, if the 2016 QRA Queens results were anything to go on, not many TR & F class shooters...

Re: F Class Competition in Australia

I'm not so sure that we'd ultimately gain from a factory rifle division. It's my perception that F/TR with unlimited bullet weight was the child of the US where the expectation was that the tactical set would find it an alternative to their main discipline, thus reinforcing F class ranks. The realit...
