RB, That is a very big difference :-k . It has to be either a crook chrono, or some major component that is different. Are you sure everything else is the same - e.g. definitely the same barrel (I've seen people forget they changed!). Could it be your powder scale? You haven't got your 168 gr projec...

Matt, Ken, how about changing calibres every shot - I'd like to see that!

Not that I doubted it would happen, but its good to see you've got the beginnings of a competitive field. Just make sure you all keep a few rounds for Canberra! :)

Chris, This is the general method that Dave Tooley (in case you don't know, one of the best 1000 yd BR shooters in the US) uses : Use either ladder testing or 5 shot groups at increasing loads to pick a good powder charge. Then experiment with seating depth using that charge. If you can't get good e...

Good on you John for making the effort to get there, and for letting us know. Will you be using heavier projectiles in the .243AI? When it gets the gremlins sorted, the new 115 DTAC would suit that cartridge. By the way we don't have many forum members from the Brisbane area yet, so when you get the...

Matt, While I did question your going to 7mm Mag or .300 Mag in F-Class, that wasn't necessarily saying you shouldn't go above 6.5mm. If you're more concerned about 1000 yd performance, then the straight .284 Win is a definite contender, esp. since the availability of the 175grSMK. Recoil is accepta...

Are none of our members intending to shoot at the Queensland Queens?

If you are please say so, and it may encourage others to join you.

Matt,

Sorry I'm not actually addressing your question, but why are you considering the 7mm Rem and 300 Win magnums. I ask that because (a) they are both belted (which can be problematic) and (b) both high in recoil. Are you intending to build it to any weight limits?

According to the article http://www.ozfclass.com/articles/1/psm_2005_03.html by Bill Calfee, barrel tuners work by moving some weight forward of the muzzle -the foresight assembly doesn't usually extend beyond the muzzle. How come it still works? :-k

Chopper, That's not a bad idea. You'll understand that its just too bigger job to cater for saturday club scores in the Results section of the website. But where there are websites that put up weekly scores, we could have a special Links area in the Results section. Regarding your preference for the...

Good evening Paul, Weathers looking better for the 800 tomorrow, but the NW wind will be fishtailing again. About calibres, I'd just as soon have a chat about it so people know why it is your favourite. In fact I'll get it started now :D! Ever since owning a .264 Magnum in about 1970, I've ha...

Chopper, Very good strategy for attracting shooters - congratulations. Which state association does Albury-Wodonga RC come under? If its Victoria, there is a DRA Teams event (for F-Std) in October, but as yet no Champion of Champions for F-Class. If there was, there would also be a possibilty of an ...

If I appeared to be defending 1/4MOA clicks, then I should say that if I bought a new scope it would have 1/8MOA, and that will give you more flexibility. But I also think you can get by with 1/4MOA and aiming off, and there are times (e.g. when you get a brief good patch in difficult conditions) wh...

My Leupold has 1/4MOA and I agree its not fine enough. But I'm using aiming off almost exclusivley now for both windage and elevation. And if you have a systematic technique and train yourself to do it automatically, I think it is a better way to go, except perhaps when mirage is bad, and then the 1...

Ben, I'm starting to warm to the idea of a T24 to give some flexibilty. It would probably be better than my 6.5-20X Leupold in good conditions (a) higher magnification and (b) 1/8 min clicks. However on another matter... I can't fault what Peter is saying about a heavy scope and high C. of G. When y...

Chris, Quite apart from the quality of scopes (which I agree with the other posters about), for F-Class the amount of elevation and windage adjustment available in the scope is very important. For this reason I would strongly advise choosing a model with a 30mm tube (most general purpose scopes have...
