I think the 6.5x55 and AI is a good choice. You have a long neck (less throat erosion), long powder column (pressure rises predictably), and with the right powder, a full case.

Peter, Sierra seems to have a good reputation with their published BCs : http://www.sierrabullets.com/index.cfm?section=bullets&page=bc&bullettype=0 Comparing the 6.5 142gr with the 7mm 175gr over the full velocity range used in F-Class (say 3000fps down to 1500fps), you'd have to say the 7m...

Who'll be at the Queensland Queens?

Firstly, not me (too busy with the website  )! But with the meeting less than 6 weeks away, it's a good time to find out who's intending to compete. If the numbers don't look promising, perhaps we can start some friendly prodding, particularly of those within a day's drive! Seriously...

Richard I've heard that Canberra is tricky. To be honest I have to give some credit to Rosedale Range for that double. It's a flat open range, and while its always difficult in a tail-wind, and occasionally has gale-force winds, quite often at this time of the year you get a nice steady moderate str...

Richard, Regarding the .284 Win, how difficult are they to keep down under recoil under F-Class weight limits (and without a muzzle brake)? My 6.5 is okay in that respect, but I calculate that a .284 with 175smk at 2850fps is about 25% more recoil energy. Matt, Just a thought about coaching. I'm won...

If by 100/100 you mean at both ranges of a 2 range shoot, it probably has happened, but I've never heard of it... Errr, this is sort of embarrassing, but... At Rosedale rifle range today, I got my first possible 100 at 2pm, and just to show it wasn't a fluke, managed another at 4pm  ! What...

Mel, Sorry, another male responder! The site has only been up for 11 days and the only publicising has been a mention on a couple of US shooting forums. With an ad for the website in ATR No 57 (due out very soon), the numbers visiting the Forums should increase substantially, and I hope that will in...

Brett,

How well do you know your local gun dealer?

Maybe that's his way of saying he hasn't got any, and wants to sell you something else  !

To all, The Victorian section of Starting Shooting is now complete (apart from the addition of some contact details, which will hopefully be added soon). I'm hoping to get some of you from other States to put your hands up to supply the equivalent information for your own States. All that is needed ...

Re: Possible Register

It's been tossed around before but never got off the ground and this seems like the perfect place do it. How about a register of all the possibles shot .... Getting back to the subject of the thread, we're nearly there. If you have a look at the "Results" menu of our website, there is a "Possibles"...

Tony, I suppose we won't really know the "Std vs. Open" possible ratio until we try it. I'd like to get it started, say with the start of the new season i.e. this weekend. It won't matter that the word will take a while to spread, because we'll be able to put them in retrospectively, although I'm re...
