Re: 6.5x47 Lapua Free Bore with 130gn Nosler RDF

Willow I have a heap of 142s rdf that I am planning to run in my 260. When you say batch sort are you talking by weight or bearing surface? I'd be checking both. I've tried the 6mm 105gr pills and will only use what I have left for running in future barrels. They're a good looking bullet but I've f...

Re: 6.5x47 Lapua Free Bore with 130gn Nosler RDF

I am currently building a rifle in 6.5x47Lapua for F-Open/Benchrest/500Fly (Tikka CTR action/magazine, Maddco 28" heavy barrel, Bell & Carlson competition stock). Planning on running the 130gn Nosler RDF projectile because of the high BC and I can get them in bulk for a reasonable price. U...

Re: WTB F standard stock

I have a laminate Tikka stock, left hand mind you. It has been hydrodipped and is in excellent condition. Photos available if you're interested.

Re: BEST SCOPE FOR F OPEN

John, all good if you want to stick to Open only...... pretty sure that a 308 FTR rifle at almost 2kg lighter than a Open rifle with full blown 200gr bullets will impart as much impulse (abuse) into a scope as most 7 SAUM’s...... I will leave it there..... let’s focus on the Open rifles as requeste...

Re: BEST SCOPE FOR F OPEN

Hello all. Is it fair to say that there has been no real challenge to the Nightforce Competition 15-55x52? I think so. Before we close the book, it may be worth looking (again) at some other particular scopes. After applying two basic requirements; zoom magnification of 50 power or more, and click ...

Re: Sierra 110g SMK in 6mm

I'm surprised Sierra manage to sell bullets here given the prices they charge. Does anyone know why they are so expensive?? I imagine the new 6.5 150g bullets will be over $1 a bullet when they get here?? It's got me stumped. In the US, dollar for dollar they're in the same ballpark as the ever rel...

Re: BEST SCOPE FOR F OPEN

I own and use a couple of Vortex Golden Eagles which I got for a very good price. No complaints with them despite the lack of a zero stop - for F Open I don't need that. Glass is perfectly acceptable, I can't tell the difference between the GE and NF Comp for glass, but I find the GE easier to get b...

Re: Front Rest???

Depends on your budget really. I like to buy once - cry once. At the high end, Farley, SEB and Dolphin Company have some very nice options (around $2k). Plenty of serious shooters running Farleys and SEBs. Dolphin Company is a little more exotic but runs more expensive due to the British pound. A go...

Re: WHICH MOUNTS

I run two Golden Eagles and run Spuhr mounts on both them. I prefer one piece mounts over rings and shooting F-open, the extra few grams is not a concern.Image

Good luck to all competing, enjoy and have fun. Unfortunately I'll be back on a plane for Perth and won't be behind the rifle until next January.

Re: 280 AI information Blog

Hi Graham, sorry to read about your troubles. I had previously read about US shooters also trying to fireform out of 30-06 brass for the Lapua factor and suffice to say they had the same trouble you did. Only way around it would be to have a custom reamer made to suit the slightly shorter brass so y...
