Re: Varying powder charge summer/winter?

Thanks rod. Did a little digging online and in extreme tests (below freezing to high 40’s) RL 15 looks to be about 3 times more sensitive than 2208. About 1.6fps per degree vs 0.5 However that’s a basic interpolation of minimum and maximum and assuming the change is linear. It would appear between ...

Re: WTB extractor for Musgrave action.

Hi Rod. Extractors between a mauser 98 bolt and the musgrave are all but the same We have two musgraves. One is the same, one has a more tapered end. I would think it would take maybe a little grinding to adjust at the most. Cheers Adrian 20180630_141332.jpg 20180630_141418.jpg Great, thanks for th...

Re: Successful 6mm for long range

I would be keen to see how the 6x47 goes when you move up to the slightly heavier 110gn and 115gn bullets. Their BC is closer to what the 6.5s and 7mm usually run. Has anyone here done much with the 110 and 115gn pills in a faster twist barrel?

Re: Successful 6mm for long range

I think you should shoot a 6BR at the next South Australia Queens. I'll give ya the components and a barrel to do it.

Re: Varying powder charge summer/winter?

With a Dasher sized cartridge and 2208, and those temperature differences, I would be changing the load by about 0.25gn. RE15 is a lot more temperature sensitive and I haven't done any temperature tests with this powder, but I would guess it could require up to 0.5gn change???? Can you get AR-comp w...

Re: WTB extractor for Musgrave action.

I'm pretty sure Musgrave is still going in South Africa. You could always ask them if they still have them available mate. So they are, I thought they had folded years ago. I will get him to check in with them. If you are successful, can you let me know please? I have a mate who has a Musgrave that...

macguru wrote:So what cartridge are you using for .30 cal ? or are you developing a wildcat of your own ?

I would guess a 300PRC which is about to be brought out as a proprietary cartridge very soon. Pretty much a 375 Ruger necked down. I think a good sized cartridge, not as overbore as the 300 Nosler or 300 RUM.

I seem to remember conflicting opinions on a US forum discussion about whether it is safe to leave the Bench Rest version in the bore during storage, a...
