Re: NECK CLERANCE - IS IT IMPORTANT?

Perhaps it went like this..... In the beginning there was brass and it shot well one day a shooter said let there be better precision and so turned necks. there was better precision, then there were split necks so the shooter said give me less clearance between the turned necks and the chamber and ...

Re: NECK CLERANCE - IS IT IMPORTANT?

I have never met a newcomer who fully appreciates just how easy it is to degrade good cases with inadequate attention to detail during neck turning. Most agree that, if neck turning standards are perfect, brass fired in a perfect chamber/barrel will have few or no problems. Even with very fine clea...

Re: Problems with CCI 450s

I'm still using federals since last post and still no miss fires. Can the Barnard firing pins be adjusted? Someone told me there is a Barnard firing pin with washers like the RPA for sale, any idea who is selling them. Trevor Have you measured your pin protrusion ? I haven't seen a Barnard out of s...

Re: 2019 LRWC AND PALMA

The NRAA should publicly milk this win for everything they can get. Get Aussie shooting sports back in the limelight of sporting achievements where they belong and F*** the anti firearm lot. Will this happen???? Seeing as it is a target rifle event I am sure it will be highly (by NRAA standards) pu...

Re: .308 F-Open/F/TR Projectiles

I have put a large number of various weight bullets down range through my 30/06AI and for mine the best weight range in 30 cal target rifles is 175 gr to 190 gr. Avail yourselves of a good ballistics program and you will find tiny gains in drift from the big bullets at the expense of recoil. I call ...

Re: Submerging barrels in cleaning solutions

I use & recommend Boretech solvents, caution should be exercised when leaving it in the barrel for extended periods. Reason being is it is a water based product & offers no protection from air born moisture in high humidity climates. This is not the fault of the solvent and is climatic. I l...

take a tip from me. do not leave boretech in a barrel. bruce. Which boretech product are you referring to Bruce when you say not to leave it in a barrel? I use the boretech eliminator as instructed on the label and it says you can leave a small amount in there. Why do you believe you shouldn't be? ...

Re: throat angle

I have not had a tip fall out but another club member has had two. One happened in the box of projectiles, the other he showed to me - it had been loaded but in his bullet box a tip had fallen out. He is not trying to straighten any - they are seated with a quality seater. I would estimate that he ...

[ Keith, Are you referring to the cases ending up too short for a true 280 Ackley chamber? If so, would you mind expanding on this?[/quote] Hey guys I appreciate the scrutiny, it’s always constructive and test the information. Yes , if this is it Kieth ?? 30/06 brass is about 40 thou shorter from me...

O.K. Graham I do not wish to throw cold water on what seems to you to be a good idea & I mean you no disrespect, but when you make technical posts you must be sure there will be NO ramifications from what you post. From a technical point of view this is NOT a good idea!! It does not pose any imm...
