Re: 6.5 SLR

Tim . The 6.5 SLR is a nice case and will do the job but with the intro of some new HEAVY 6.5mm bullets i would go the 260 Ackley 40deg. It has a couple grains extra capacity than the 6.5 SLR ( 55.5 vs 58)and with the New Hornady 147 ELM, Sierra 150 and Berger about to release their new 150gn as wel...

Re: Norma 6.5mm 130 gr diamond line

Norma 130 Diamond have shot as good as any I have put through a 6.5mm. Very uniform and the 130 is the same length as a 140 Berger Hybrid..

Re: RSAUM with Energy restrictions

I Have been playing with reduced loads in a SAUM to basically mimic a 284 speed. I have one at the moment with 53.5 2209 and 180 hybrid at 2860. has ES of 12 and a few weeks back it shot 120.11 at 900m. It is only 28 inch too. I also have another Barrel running at 2890 with SAUM and it shoots great ...

Re: Bisley style shooting

I would have no problems traveling for a major Bisley style shoot somewhere in Australia. Maybe a new event in Australia is whats needed to re invigorate our shooting community!! Im going a few hours south of Perth this weekend to shoot Bisley with a few shooters who have expressed interest in givin...

Re: Bisley style shooting

The first time I shot Bisley in Competition was at the Canadian F Class champs in Canada before we shot the Worlds. I am from a Benchrest back ground and generally shoot normally at a medium to fast pace string shooting. I found the transition to Bisley very easy and was by no means as SCARY as peop...

Re: Locking Lugs Lube

Morey's EPL Bigfoot Grease. Has the highest pound out rating on the Timkin scale, sticks like shit to a blanket, best stuff I have used so far for bolt lugs and barrel threads..

Re: Sub 7mm choice

I would have to say 260AI. I am on my 8th barrel over the last 5 years and they do work well. 140 Berger @ 2950 all day , 3000 if you want to go at it a bit harder. Tried Palmer brass for a few years but small primer was too small to light up slower powders so LR Lapua was the ticket. They like slow...

Re: Coatings for dies to reduce clearances

Rod you could try getting it Hard Chromed !! We used to get the journals on our crankshafts done on the Drag cars . It is SUPER tough and from memory they can build it up to around 001. Look for a good High End Automotive engineering shop in Sydney or Melbourne and they may be able to help you.

Re: Suggestions - Light recoiling cal on a magnum bolt face

Tim , with the limited options of the magnum bolt face Rods 6.5 WSSM would be the ticket!! Case capacity is around 58 gns of water which puts it on par with a 260AI which I have. It about the perfect case size to run 140 class bullet or you can drop to the 130 and not have to run big pressure and ba...

Re: Odd- clean bore shots going high

Yeah Brad , 2 new 7mm i just got going do the same thing. Usually the first shot on a clean bore fired over Ballistol drops a lot of speed and hence drops low but these 2 I have actually tend to be higher in speed with the first shot than when fouled. Go figure !!!

Re: 7mm bullets, 180 hybrid, 183 Sierra 195 Berger

Bob Kinnear has been using the 183 sierra in a 8.5 Bart which i have wind coached and accuracy has been EXCELLENT !! He also bought down his other SAUM a few weeks back which has a 9 twist Bart and out of shear curiosity he ran the sierra ammo through it. I was sceptical if it would stabilise but a ...
