Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

Scott let me demonstrate to you that your fears are unfounded, bearing in mind that we are talking about typical PRS rifle calibers NOT magnums. If you aren't pleasantly surprised I'll buy you a carton of your favourite. :-)

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

I'm not too sure what the condition of your Range benches are but I've shot and shot along side braked rifles for years and never had that problem. Personally I think this "Muzzle Brake " problem is blown out of all perspective and to be honest a lot is just hearsay. Regards jb The consta...

Re: What Precision or Tactical Rifle setup do you use

So are there many stages where you have to use the scope for ranging (calculating distance)? Or is it just best to have a ffp for holdover? Btw thanks for answering my newbie questions. In the few UKD comps I've shot in, there has not been time to mil the range. It was a matter of swag the range, s...

Re: What Precision or Tactical Rifle setup do you use

Kakaduthunder, Re Second plane scopes: I agree with you up to a point. However, I use a NF NXS 3.5-15x50 MLR and have never found it wanting in speed shooting. F-Class not so hot. I only use two settings, 15X for comps and ELR (dial to 1 mile) where the mils are true, and 3.5x for hunting up close. ...

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

.........PRS shooters have given up asking us because of the break situation resulting in a resounding and unwelcoming NO............. Case in point: NARC is a convenient 15 min drive from where I live. I have been shooting FC there since 2005 and could not hope for a better bunch of friends. Howev...

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

........ Muzzle brakes are not all "equal" in how much disturbance they create. There is much to consider here, the design of the brake & the caliber used with the brake......... You nailed it right there, Keith. Rather than a blanket ban on all brakes, would it not be logical and fai...

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

I thought a close up video of my 260 brake in action might allay some fears. Note the small grass and dirt disturbance and how the handheld camera and the cameraman in the blast zone fail to react to the blast. https://youtu.be/gPElWg_Y6_Y

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

Barry Davies wrote:Question,
Why would you need to brake a 6mm or 6.5 mm do they recoil to that extent? or is it to do with getting back on target quickly? excuse my ignorance.

Barry, in this discipline there are no wind flags and no spotters so watching your trace and/or bullet impact is critical for follow-up shots.

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

..........Please do NOT tell me I have to accept a muzzle braked rifle shooting in the lane next to me without baffleing!!!! Not going to happen!!!! Keith H. Keith, having shot prone alongside braked magnums, including .338LMs, I understand your concerns. However, as you know, very few PRS shooters...

Re: has anyone experience with

Bruce, I bought one back in 2006 and used it for a few months. It did not cut the powder and was smooth and accurate to +/-0.2gns with '08 & '09. I had occasional problems with powder clumping in the hopper when it was humid so went back to using my Redding. In fairness to the manufacturer, curr...

Re: One mile + rifle

Rules like that will surely effectively rule out all but the serious campaigners with the big powerhouse long range shooting cartridges ? Costly !! True Gyro, but lesser mortals with smaller wallets can apply the same rules at shorter ranges eg 1500m to 1609m. At present I need a sighter to confirm...

Re: One mile + rifle

Thanks for the kind words Denis. A bad day at North Arm is tough as you know but at least I can accept a bad wind call for what it is. Way out there I feel as if I've moved from the realm of physics to the Twilight Zone and I know SFA. BTW I recently read that Bryan Litz is proposing new ELR standar...

.......Also , I use a Lieka 1600 and it just flashes back at me , saying “ u idiot , that is just way too far !!” Subsequently I have to do it with a 3 m sight stick and mil rectical . Old school !! Graham, I also have a 1600 so I know what you mean. However, for long range targets with the 1...

Re: One mile + rifle

......... What is everyone using and what are the results ? ...... Mick, you don't need heavy artillery to shoot targets at 1 mile and you don't need to be supersonic, but it definitely helps - provided your ammo, rifle, scope and laser etc are up to it. I push Berger 6.5mm 140 VLDs at a leisurely ...
