Re: One mile + rifle

Rules like that will surely effectively rule out all but the serious campaigners with the big powerhouse long range shooting cartridges ? Costly !! True Gyro, but lesser mortals with smaller wallets can apply the same rules at shorter ranges eg 1500m to 1609m. At present I need a sighter to confirm...

Re: One mile + rifle

Thanks for the kind words Denis. A bad day at North Arm is tough as you know but at least I can accept a bad wind call for what it is. Way out there I feel as if I've moved from the realm of physics to the Twilight Zone and I know SFA. BTW I recently read that Bryan Litz is proposing new ELR standar...

Re: One mile + rifle

......... What is everyone using and what are the results ? ...... Mick, you don't need heavy artillery to shoot targets at 1 mile and you don't need to be supersonic, but it definitely helps - provided your ammo, rifle, scope and laser etc are up to it. I push Berger 6.5mm 140 VLDs at a leisurely ...

Re: Adjustable Shrouded Brake

Jasmay, I checked the Qld Police website before posting. The regs read: "......(h) a silencer or other device or contrivance made or used, or capable of being used, or intended to be used, for reducing the sound caused by discharging a firearm;" "...reducing the sound...."????? h...

Adjustable Shrouded Brake

Browning (BOSS), Que Industries and others have marketed combo barrel brake/tuners in the past. An adjustable shroud placed over the brake negates the brake but permits barrel tuning. Such a fitting could be handy for discipline swaps eg between PRS and F-Class. Does anyone know of the legalities of...

Re: Magneto speed Chrony

Yes Rebel, the V1 switch is very fragile. MS USA customer service is excellent though. They sent me a new switch free of charge. Took me a couple of minutes to replace it.

SunnyCoast, Denis has been in the club for many years and has always worked his butt off to advance the club. He is well respected as well as being a great shooter and a top bloke. He is entitled to express his views of the club, positive and negative. It's called honesty. It is presumptuous of you ...

Competition rules aside, this could be a work-around for clubs that have brake bans in place. A sound moderator that is easy to make, cheap and legal.

Re: F-class is an advanced discipline. $ stops new shooters

Their main purpose is to give rifles a better "power to weight" ratio, something that is important to hunters, but not to target shooters That's true to a point, Alan. Most "practical" shooters want them to facilitate spotting their own shots because targets are not pulled and m...

Re: F-class is an advanced discipline. $ stops new shooters

Tony I sympathise. I have bad tinnitus myself. But before we ban brakes outright here is a little more info on the subject. http://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/08/21/muzzle-brake-summary-of-field-test-results/ I have used quite a few different brakes. Some produce horrendous sound levels and some are...

Re: F-class is an advanced discipline. $ stops new shooters

Cam, the solution to that is offer no prizes until the numbers warrant it. Most of the new shooters I helped at CATs could not care less about prizes. They just wanted to join in with what they had.
