Re: Alpha munitions brass

I have done some testing of prototype 6 Dasher brass that had small rifle primers with large rifle size flash holes. Avoid small primer brass with large flash holes like the plague. Your normal load with Lapua brass will blow a hole in primer where the firing pin hits. This means you will have to ba...

Wanted - Stock for Remington S/A clone F/TR

I'm after a stock for shooting F/TR.
Action is a Remington Short Action clone.
Barrel profile is a fat Heavy Varmint.

If you have one laying about I would be glad to hear from you.

Re: One mile + rifle

In my opinion the best calibre for such long range shooting would be the .338 Snipetac with 300gn Bergers. They perform better than my .375 Cheytac which is an awesome calibre too with the right bullets.

Re: Mastering velocity ES 284W

Audax, Keeping your rounds in a sandwich warmer may not help with bullet stability. Although it may slightly help maintain your muzzle velocity by about 10fps or so. I have found that keeping rounds warm does help greatly with ES in large capacity rounds. ADI powders are quite temperature stable but...

Re: Extended Ranges and energy limits

Shane I participated in a 1500 yard shoot at Coona a few years ago. At the time I used a .284 win with 180gn Hybrids at 2820fps. While this load was ok during the preceding event that went out to 1200 yards, the load was definitely lacking at 1500 yards and was not competitive against those using 7m...

Stuart, thanks mate but I have a rifle, just need a different stock that is suitable for FTR style shooting so that I can drop the barrelled action into it.

Cheers Norm.

WTB Stock for Remington Short action

Looking for a drop in stock for a Remington Short Action footprint action.
Must be suitable for FTR type shooting. i.e. large barrel inlet and 0.350" recoil lug inlet, also must be suitable for hanging a large front bipod.

Cheers Norm.

Bruce I have a .50 cal Chromolly barrel and it is very accurate so don't see why a .40 cal barrel would not be.

Re: 21st Century - Calibrated Bullet Seating Die vs. Others

Albert you may need to modify your seating stem where it contacts the projectile. I have done this with most of my seaters including my Wilson micrometre seater. I modify my seaters so that they contact further down the projectile and hone them to increase the contact surface area. This seems to imp...

Re: Odd barrel

Thanks for the input lads. I'm thinking Frank and Mac are onto it. Maybe Savage has had a go at straightening this barrel and somehow got the last couple of inches pointing off at an odd angle. Nothing else makes sense and there does seem to be a shadow in the barrel in that area. The rifle seems to...
