Re: nswra queens 2018

Barry, This year could be an exception to the rule. It may pay to get clarification as to if the NSW Championships are to be held there in May this year. They could be tacked onto the Coonabarrabran program, as sometimes happens with host states of the Nationals. Getting back on topic. I don’t envy ...

Re: nswra queens 2018

As to the other guys statements the only thing i have been guilty of is vigorously trying to convince organizers to plan their events so that all clubs can maximize their attendances. Surely this should be high on everyones wish list, the event, the club and the movement in general. after all this is...

Re: nswra queens 2018

So, two shoots may be held at the same time, big deal!! I would rather see two ranges being used and shot on by people who actually want to be there than one range being used and shot on where 50% of the field are there just to bulk up the numbers. If you take the time to compare the list of names f...

Re: Any experience of the Hawke ED Sidewinder 10-50x60

Thanks for your replies, guys. I am a newbie going into my second season of F Open and being over pensionable age suffer with clarity in low light particularly when in pennant matches that are still shooting at 4pm in the Winter. Q - Does a NF NSX 8-32 x 56 give better clarity and/or ease of focus ...

Re: Any experience of the Hawke ED Sidewinder 10-50x60

I wouldn't say $1500-$1600 is a cheap scope, but if that is what your budget allows there are other proven scopes out there on the second hand market that you should consider. A quick search on a well known gun site revealed a NSX 8-32 X 56 with 1/8 clicks for $1600. If that is beyond your price ran...

Any reports/ feedback on these products?
Price looks good and being a local product is a bonus, just wondering how they perform.

Re: 6.5 SLR

Got around to testing out the 147’s today at 700m. Come up from 300m was 14 moa which is about .5moa more than what my ballistics calculator predicted, based on G7 of .351 Conditions were fairly horrendous with a frontal fishtailing wind, mirage running right, left and boil, turning the target face ...

Re: RECOIL and THE BLOEMING CASE

as an aside to this topic, are the 150 M/K available here yet. and where. My enquiries a month ago at 3 outlets advised that the Aust. importer had no plans of importing in the near future. Cheers, Trevor. When I ordered my 7.5 twist barrel through the SARA Store I also placed an order for 500 X 15...

Re: RECOIL and THE BLOEMING CASE

Hangfire. I don't want to discourage you, but the mv of a 150, 6.5 out of this case could well exceed 3300fps. Parker Ackley was of the view that "the law of diminishing returns starts to be felt if we go much above 3200 f.s.". Can I suggest that you would need to buy 3 barrels at a time,...

Re: RECOIL and THE BLOEMING CASE

With the advent of new high BC 6.5 bullets like the 150g SMK I would not be surprised to see some 6.5 short magnums on the firing line. Teams with deep pockets could turn up on the mound with a quiver of 6.5 barrels to burn. This type of cartridge would provide stellar performance in an extremely sh...

Re: 6.5 SLR

Hangfire, it'd make for an awesome 'hunter class' cartridge don't ya think? ;) That would all depend on if you had one! You may have to start up an Open Class in H-Class for wildcats and improved cartridges as not to deter those with off the rack rifles from coming out and having a go. Last thing y...

Re: 6.5 SLR

Had a chance to test out the 147s today. Did a seating depth test with them and determined they prefer a .025” jump in my barrel. I then did a round robin ladder test with them of 3 shots at each load starting at 42g and working up to 43.8g, in .3g increments (total of 21 shots) with .025” jump. Vel...

Re: 6.5 SLR

Hi Paul, I have been using them in my 8 twist and believe that will stabilize them. According to the twist rate calculator a 147 at 2850 fps in a 1:8 gave SG 1.59 in 7.5 twist SG 1.81. I am hoping the odd vert shot was a result of seating depth not twist rate or being out of a velocity node. Am stil...
