Re: WTB 140gn 6.5mm Hybrids

Still the king of the 6.5s (the 6.5x55), although i think i'd go the ackley, 7.5 twist and maybe 150gr sierras (or bergers if they are coming.) But I think i have enough going on for the time being :)

Re: Carbon cleaning methods curious after borescoping club barrels

If you wanted to get ALL the carbon out you could buy a 1m long ultrasonic tank with a heater, unscrew the barrel and place it in some aqueous solution for a few minutes, rinse with boiling water and repeat as needed. I think a little carbon is ok, personally, and just bronze brush a little to stop ...

Re: Successful 6mm for long range

I think you need the 7.5 twist bartlein at least for 115 grainers.they are pretty long bullets

with the 108s in the 6x47 all my really good groups and high x counts were at the mid ranges, not longs. so the 115s might be worth a try if you have the twist for them.

Re: Wanted - 230gr Berger Hybrids

I am building a 300wsm, long throated, to shoot 230 berger OTMs from a 9 twist bartlein HV barrel on a savage large shank action in a GRS stock. I expect to get 2750 at least from 2213 powder, maybe 2800 ? I do not care about belmont or bendigo as I will be shooting it in NSW, mainly , or other part...

Re: 6.5 150g SMK

The other alternative would be 6.5x55 AI. Then you could wear out the barrel fireforming, but at least you start with good brass (lapua). I guess you need at least 2 barrels done at the same time or at least with the same reamer... I never want to get another 6.5x284, too much stress on that case he...

Re: New F Open Rifle

Thats OK Keith, I dont want to shoot it in all states, I wont take it to Belmont or Bendigo. I want to try it at the match rifle ranges in NSW and they told me wsm is ok, but not winmag. I have a 7saum for my barnard for the other stuff...

Re: New F Open Rifle

I am setting up a 300wsm for 230 berger OTMs as this is pretty much the energy limit in NSW F open. I expect to get around 2800 fps tops and i hope that will be enough.... Its a 9 twist bartlein HV barrel. ...yes i see what you mean about the prs, its based on the case on the left. My 300wsm230berg ...

Re: scope?

I found my scores jumped a few points when going from a NF BR 32* to the NF comp being able to resolve within the X ring made the difference. I know I could of been using a different technique (framing or setting up on on other parts of the target but to be able to see more clearly helped me. yes e...
