Re: Best gun case 1400mm long

Scott - superx10 I had 2 custom gun cases made 20 years ago by John Eland (a well known F Class shooter) specifically for flying to shoots. Since then John has closed his factory, but looking at the Fortress website it appears that they use the same hardware to assemble the cases that John used. Tha...

Re: Recently discovered

Just listened to the podcast. It seemed to me that the interviewer had a preconceived idea that gain twist barrels are the bees knees. Although I have never tried a gain twist barrel (never felt the need), I have friend that did. His scores did not suddenly increase nor did he suddenly start winning...

Re: 30 cal nylon brush options of best brands

Forgot to mention. For 30 cal barrels I use 8mm bronze brushes. The 30 cal brushes seem to just slide across the surface, little to no resistance whereas you can feel the 8mm brushes actually doing some work in the barrel. Brownells sell bronze brushes by the doz a lot cheaper than if you buy the sa...

Re: 30 cal nylon brush options of best brands

Agree with williada. I purchase bronze brushes usually 10 -15 dozen at a time and use that number in about 18 months to 2 years. I honestly think that many shooters get too worked up about the damage that a bronze brush will do to a barrel. My barrels don't seem to last any less number of shots than...

Re: MATTERS OF INTEREST

The last time India hosted the Comm Games shooting, the outcome was a debacle. I cannot imagine any of the top countries shooters even considering returning to compete in India, unless there were significant changes to the target system. If the Birmingham Comm Games committee allow the 2022 shooting...

Has anyone used Vihtavuori N160 in 308W

I am looking for advice on whether I am wasting my time in trying VV N160 in 308W with heavy bullets. Bullets would be from 208 to 215g. I have used N150 with heavy bullets in the past but it tends to spike too soon. I get great results with N150 and bullets from 155g to 185g. I have also tried N550...

Barry can I pick your brains a little? Do you shoot the HBC bullets into or off the lands for best results?

Re: Problems with CCI 450s

The top two are showing very slight cratering and would appear to actually have been fired and went bang. Every time I have had a misfire, the firing pin indentation has had very round edges not the very defined edge like in your photo.

Re: Au Match Rifle & Long Range F Class + Ultra Long Range

Great event with an excellent roll up of competitors and weather has been kind so far with only a slight delay for rain yesterday but we still managed to get in all 10 ranges for the individual competition, Rob Jeffery from NSW won the F Open Individual competition on 864.22 by 7 points from Ernie M...

The Burring Motel at Lake Albert is good. My in-laws used to stay there regularly when visiting Wagga. They do not have a restaurant and it is not close to any restaurants, but both the Kooringal Hotel and the Thomas Blamey Tavern are just a short drive. The Burringa Motel is just off Red Hill Road ...

Re: Question for the Omark experts

I used Sportco/Omark M44 rifles for 30+ years without the ejector. The last lot of brass I used was Lapua LR primer fitted, had something like 20 firings from each case before I retired it because the case head could no longer be sized down to fit easily in the chamber. That brass never showed any s...

Re: Stock type?

I agree that the stock looks like a Bill Barratt stock on the forend and that was my initial guess as to maker. However Bill Barratt didn't put adjustable cheek pieces on any of the stocks he made. Either someone has added the adjustable cheek piece later or it may have been made by Bill Heald who d...
