Is the 45 grains too hot as in pressure signs? Or too hot as per the book?

the max load in the charts for the 140gr is about 44gr, and 45gr for the 130gr pills. remember, my 260 is not improved. Are you seriously suggesting i should use 46gr 2209 in a standard 260 rem ? Being an open shooter for a while, the load charts are only a rough guide. Up to you to decide what to ...

Andrew,

I was using vastly more powder than 45 grains for my 123 scenars. Just think for a minute that the std load for a 308 is 46 grains of 2208 when using 155's, why would you use less for a 260?

My own experience with both the 139 and 123 scenar reflects the input from Mark. If you have a look at the records site thread, my scores were all shot using the 123 scenar. They just shot better in my gun using the load combination I had. At 1000 yards, the drop was almost identical, so much so tha...

I would say that twist rec is a mistake. I am pretty sure you need 1 in 8 for 140gr. The whole point of getting the 260 was to use 140gr pills. There seems to be a node there, so i am not sure if i need to make them go faster. If I decide they need more speed and i cant reach the next node , then i...

My only experience with Nosler CCs was to blow some up in my 260 INCH, havnt touched them since.

I stopped using Lapua brass a fair while ago in 308 as they are too soft and cant hande the pressure of the loads I am using these days.

The AI is a simple rechamber...maybe cut .100" off the reinforce to make sure it is true. Pretty simple stuff.

I would suggest that the 140 grain projetiles are too heavy for the 260 case and 2209 powder. That load is very light in my experience. The suggestion to go with 123 scenars may provide the answer - they certainly worked for me. I would suggest trying 2208 powder at recommended levels before changin...

Re: 30-284 why

Rod, I'd suggest that the 30-284 will be limited to running 175 or 180 grain projectiles due to pressure issues, and the requirement to run slower! Is this good enough for F Open? Of course you could always push the 155's quicker, but is there any merit in that, not really. I reckon that is why the...

Rod, Paul Janzso had a 30-284 about 5 years ago. He never really went on with it, not sure why. He now shoots a 300 WSM and seems very happy with it. With the 30-284, you might be up against the primer pocket expansion problem that I see with the 7 Shehane. Alan Alan, on doing some research now on ...

If you look at the 123 and 139 Scenars side by side, you will see that the 123 is almost the same length - and has a very high BC for its weight. The 123 actually needs the same or faster twist than the 139, as it is so long. All in all, I think the 123 is superior at 1000y to the 139 - was in my ex...

Ok, this is something I have played with...albeit a modified 260. I find CCI BR2's a bit hard - federal GM's are a better choice. Use 2209 powder. From my experience, you will never fit enough 2209 in a 260 (308) case to be a hazard. I would be using more than 44 grains, but you need to test it and ...
