Re: Sierra or Berger

Talking to a F/TR shooter at our OPM on the weekend, he found about 0.040" spread with 185 Jugs. Reports that the new Berger factory mixes the output from multiple machines sadly seem to be true.

Re: FCWC 2021 South Africa

I have just been informed by F-Open Captain D Shallis that the closing date for nominations for the teams has been put back to Tuesday 30th April 2019.

Re: If ballistics is a science ....

My view is that while advanced scientific analysis could dramatically improve the performance of our equipment, there are simply not enough people in our sport with the skills and resources to fully investigate the multitude of aspects with potential for development. Despite that, as an amateur spor...

Re: Messages stuck in outbox??

Ben, The PM Outbox works differently from most e-mail outboxes. Messages remain in the Outbox until they are READ by the recipient. So the "stuck" messages you see have not yet been read. This is usually because the normal notification method for a PM received (e-mail) is not working for t...

Re: Grains or grams?

For any reloading scales there are simple tests which check all sources of inaccuracy. If the primary purpose of the weighing is shot to shot powder charge consistency then just remove the pan full of powder from the scale, replace and reread a few times. If its also important that the absolute powd...

Re: Grains or grams?

Of course if you use analog scales, you eliminate the imprecision of digital rounding. Similarly with calipers. With dial calipers you can estimate well inside the 0.000" graduations.

For those of you that shoot straight 284 Win, which cases do you use? Do you fireform or hydroform or just use the available brass?

Welcome kbla,

Most here would use Lapua 6.5-284 brass necked up to 7mm with a mandrel - no need for forming.

Most used 7mm barrels of readers on this site will be very heavy. What profile are you hoping for?

Tim L wrote:How was the F open nominee list not a "strong field"?

I think that's pretty simple. More nominees means more choice. For whatever reason (which escapes me) that Craig was not re-appointed, then there was only one alternative.

Re: AUSTRALIAN FCWC TEAM SELECTION

Alan, are you aware of who the nominee’s were for FTR? I would hazard a guess given your comment that you are not, otherwise I don’t think you would have made such a comment. I was referring to F-Open on the subject of nominees for Captain, and you're correct that I haven't heard who nominated for ...

You certainly were one of the "few" Shane, so you've been a long term advocate for debriefing and learning from it. Maybe we can still organise a debrief forum out of Canada 2017, then this time have it used by the next team.

Re: AUSTRALIAN FCWC TEAM SELECTION

Jason, I'm not arguing with Shane's comments. In fact I tried to encourage a post-mortem discussion forum immediately after FCWC 2013. Firstly, the response was not particularly encouraging, and when I offered what was there to the 2017 management to assist in their preparation, the offer was not ta...
