FCWC 2021 South Africa

The NRAA is asking for nominations for Captain of the F-Open and F/TR teams.

See http://www.nraa.com.au/nominations-captains-f-class-open-and-ftr-world-championships-south-africa-2021/

Good to see they're starting early.

Re: QRA Queens

Wow. Didn't realise it was on. Some great performances. A remarkable situation in Open where the 3 most recent winners of this event finished 1 2 3 in a close one. Well done Adrian Siebel =D> . And another one in F-Std, the top 3 from the recent NRAA Queens finished top 3 again, another close one. W...

Re: When does BC Adavtage , become a disadvantage?

...Probably alot to be said for shooting 1 caliber and getting to know it really well. Agreed. An example of that is the number of very experienced TR or F-Std shooters who have problems with over-compensation when they move to F-Open. The same can happen in reverse when an F-Open shooter brings ou...

Bruce,

Can you clarify this please? Does "safe loads" mean same velocity, or same powder charge, and if same powder charge, what was the velocity change?

Re: Reversing a Barrel when Rechambering

If the smith gauged the bore diameter and found no taper, and the proposed new muzzle area was in good condition, what would be the problem?

Re: Grouping after 7 to 8 shots

I have a 26 inch heavy barrelled Howa in 6.5 Creedmoor wearing a Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60 scope. On the bench I have got it holding 1/4 to 1/2 MOA inch groups at 200 meters. The load is a 140 grain Hornady ELDM sitting over 42 grains of AR2208 lit by a Federal 210m in a Nosler custom case. Project...

Re: Carbon cleaning methods curious after borescoping club barrels

Thanks Rod and Alan. In my opinion barrel cleaning technique is generally underrated as to its importance in our game. It isn't the most glamorous part of our sport but can make a huge difference if you get it wrong.

Re: Carbon cleaning methods curious after borescoping club barrels

...My barrels are all left with Hoppes soaking in them until the next shoot... Rod, Do you use standard Hoppes No 9 or the No 9 Bench Rest version? I seem to remember conflicting opinions on a US forum discussion about whether it is safe to leave the Bench Rest version in the bore during storage, a...

Re: Nraa queens

Denis, looks like the right move to go to F-Std, Nick Williamson is very hard to beat there - well done. And what a contest in F-Open - was still wide open at the last range, a deserved win to Azzo. And in F/TR, a convincing win to Frans. Congrats to all winners =D> =D> =D> .

Re: More on Barrel Tuners

By my rough calculations, the effect on muzzle velocity of rifle weight and of shouldering vs free recoil, is much less than some are saying. This stems from the fact that a typical F-Class rifle is about 800 to 1000 times the mass of a typical projectile. The conservation of momentum principle dict...

Re: More on Barrel Tuners

...One of my Heavy bench rifles was 120lb and there was minimal recoil, we actually reduced the rifles weight by 45lb to allow it to recoil, muzzel velocities did not change at all... Theoretically, all else being equal, a lighter rifle will recoil more and muzzle velocity will decrease. Maybe you ...

Re: MCSI, update needed

... it appears weighted quite heavily in favour of F standard. The last update was from figures gained in 2014, I think F Standard scores have improved since that time. So, Alan, can we have an update please. Cheers Danny Danny, I agree, F-Open and F/TR seem to be getting the raw end of the stick b...
