Re: George Wittorff hunter class

...The extra cost would have to be coming from your state association as that would be the only variance from what we pay in Queensland. I suspect that Queensland subs would be heavily subsidised by the Association's unique income source, namely the Belmont spoil disposal business. Good on them, bu...

I agree. One to attract the high end equipment, and one to attract those on a budget. I'd suggest both would have just as much fun.

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

These shooters with factory rifles can come and shoot on our ranges, we don't need to create a class for these shooters to get involved.. (non competitive club level) If clubs are not accommodating these shooters it is not a class issue, its a " club culture " issue... I disagree. If some...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

I'd like to see a (strictly) factory rifle class with a maximum allowed RRP on the rifle. We can try too hard to cater for existing rifles suited to all manner of other classes and enthusiasts. We need to think more about those who are starting out. If we choose specs which allow people to buy readi...

Most used 7mm barrels of readers on this site will be very heavy. What profile are you hoping for?

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

...We would have to have another way of saflely clearing such as remove magazine and insert a chamber flag?? Would this be permitted?.. Steve, All we need to do is convince George (and the NRAA) that its safe and that its worth doing based on the number of rifles of this type, and it could be inclu...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Perhaps the classification of some ranges should be looked at to ensure that they remain relevant to the shooting community into the future. There are ways to modify ranges without necessarily needing more land or a bigger safety zone to achieve this. I agree with you in general, but these sorts of...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

On the subject of "plinking", from my understanding in Victoria on Classification ranges, which comprise the majority of VRA ranges, there has been (and probably still is) an expectation by the Police that all shooting must be in competition format. In fact the former Chief Firearms Office...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Trev, I don't see why seating depth restrictions need to be singled out as a deficiency (there are many others) of factory rifles, and be specifically catered for in the rules. Everyone would have the same problem, and a way of getting around it if they wished. Virtually all rifles for this proposed...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Everyone is forgetting the whole point , out of the box , cheap hunting rifle for a introduction into our sport, not some $6000 costume rifle built by a gunsmith. I think it must be restricted to factory rifles, and probably be called that in preference to labelling it with hunting, varminting or t...

Trev,

I'm interested to know what your reasoning is? Do magazines cause problems? I can see problems with NOT allowing them.

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

FWIW, this is a proposal I put to the Board in May. Proposed Factory Rifle Class for Inclusion in the SSRs.pdf It was apparently tabled and discussed briefly at the May Board meeting. The key differences with George's current proposal, are that he opts for a single class, and no muzzle brakes, and n...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

This is a welcome development. It'll be very beneficial for attracting members. Its not my ideal recipe but not too far away. My main concern is around magazines. Virtually all rifles in the hunting/varmint/tactical areas have magazines, and I hope we can persuade the NRAA that they be allowed to be...

I think that's pretty simple. More nominees means more choice. For whatever reason (which escapes me) that Craig was not re-appointed, then there was only one alternative.
