Re: Concentricity

Just continuing on , in Berger 180’s I’ve seen 140 thou in base to metplate overall lengths . You can only imagine what that may do to seat depth and variable bc at 1000 yds . Doing with in 5 thou and Sd of 5 of 7 or more shots wii enable you to get a high x count and half x ring elevation in stable...

Re: Concentricity

Well you were spot on Graham, I didn't realise how much difference there was in Berger 155.5's. I purchased a Shars comparator from BRT to check the base to ogive. There was 5 thou difference in a 100 pack of projectiles (I measured 2 x 100 packs). First pack had 51 of the same measurement, 34 with...

Re: Barrels and gunsmith

I’m going to stick up for this gunsmith who has done most my work for the past decade . Nothing wrong with Liljas . The fabled 58.9 at last years Qld Queens to which i came 4 th overall was his work . Also won many things through the panda and Mac stock including a trans Tasman with a Wilddog cut Ba...

Re: Advice for a beginner

Starting really either cal would be great ! Main thing is what’s going to let you shoot more often and accurate ? Then work out from there. I started out with a howa .308 and f standard . F standard is a great class especially b grade . You should be able to shoot hunter class as it’s in the SSR’s m...

Re: Tuned barrel

What was the Question again?? Ok heavier scope !! Yes that scope in itself is just like a big tuning fork and this potentially can change the reflected vibrations and the tune or super tune of a rifle . I’m the only peanut that has silicone tape on my scope ! Ok if you move to a lighter stock ? Yes ...

2. Has anyone altered flash holes to make them conical? There was a myth that the small holes in small primer pockets had a venturi effect, made them "spit holes". A myth long busted. If the flash hole was reamed to be conical, with the wide aperture (0.125) in the pocket and the narrow a...

Graham Why don't you come to Coonabarabran in October For the Match Rifle and Long Range F Class Championships plus the Ultra Long Range Challenge? See Match Rifle web site for details. Cheers Cliff Might seriously consider it if Qld is canned ! Can a 284 shoot ok at 1500 yds ? Never done it before !
