Re: to make a fire form barrel or not

I have been fire forming cases for a few years now with lead bullets ( been using lubed ones with a gas check fitted ) and Trail Boss powder. The cast lead bullets are cheap and they actually do a very nice job of polishing the leade. I fire them in 25 shot lots then give the bore a quick scrub and ...

Re: Just starting out

which reticle do you have on your March scope? AlexE is selling the same scope I use ( fwiw ). That scope is First Focal Plane with a VERY good reticle. I consider that scope perfect for the following reasons. It is simple. FFP is simple. Simple is gold for my simple brain. The FMA-2 has line thick...

Re: 300wsm 210 Load Data

Just try it lads. Have a look on the Berger website under "resources" and there's all the detail about the various Berger bullet measurements ( that's a smart move by Berger I say ). If there is a relationship between pressure and bullet bearing surface length then the Berger "quick r...

Re: Ftr stock what’s the best.

Probs agree with Matt P myself. There are no mysteries here with this guys innocent request for information about what's probably THE most important part of a rifle ? There are a number of clear trends being gradually more accepted by many winning shooters today ( who btw are to my mind the people ...

Re: 300wsm 210 Load Data

62 grains and about 2750fps. It's just a play rifle as I'm trying a few ideas with shooting off a bipod. There would be very little throat erosion yet. And yes mate it's a bloody inefficient way of getting a 180 Berger hyb to 2750fps. The crazy thing is Ben - and u allude to it in one of your posts ...

Re: 300wsm 210 Load Data

No benefit, i just had lots of Norma brass and a barrel lying around and a reamer to borrow. Ive done lots of 300WSM shooting but been wanting to cross to the 7mm for ages for less gun-upset for the equivalent BC. No brainer !

Re: 300wsm 210 Load Data

Yes, what the FTR and matchrifle guys can achieve with the little 308case is pretty impressive!! My main point is you just can’t compare the behaviour of 2209 in the small case to how it behaves in the larger case. I have so far only stuck to the 215’s in my WSM barrel, and from the research I have...

Re: 300wsm 210 Load Data

No one is saying 2209 causes a ‘problem’ in a WSM. But it’s on the fast side for that case capacity, as you go up in capacity or reduce caliber for the same capacity you generally need slower powders. You simply cannot compare how 2209 behaves in a much smaller case!! The point made above about 220...

Re: Ftr stock what’s the best.

Hey guys. I’m asking for a new shooter. He’s looking at a rifle build. He’s going a barnard model P most probably 223. As I’m a dirty old TR shooter. I’m asking for everyone opinion on what’s the best stock for FTR. There was a time on this forum when the top guys ( and there's plenty in Oz ) would...

Re: 300wsm 210 Load Data

Hi Folks, I've just taken delivery of a WSM (30" 1:10) that I plan to use 210 lrbts in. Can someone give me some ballpark data? The previous owner jumped 210vlds using 59.0gr of 2209. I don't doubt it was an accurate load from what he has told me, but it seems on the low side. My last WSM I ra...

Re: Trigger questions

Trigger Tech triggers have become very popular for some of the shooting disciplines over here over the course of the last couple of years. https://triggertech.com/products/diamond Looks good Frank. I like the way the shoe is uncluttered with an adjustment screw hole like the Jewell which gives ya l...

Bigtravoz wrote:Well while we are discussing different lubrications what about dry glide silicone lube?

Just look at the pivot points and how they r positioned and u will see the forces at play within the Jewell trigger are very small. Hence that trigger is particularly sensitive to grit/grime.

Hence NO lube.
