Trav ask yourself when does the mass turbulence occur, how is it formed in different stages and where is the pressure exerted on the projectile? Then you will understand its significance. Then consider a TR shooter who uses perspex rings in the rain. Why do they get drop build up on the front sight...

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Whatever people choose, it always comes back to the nut behind the butt and what you feel most comfortable shooting.

Nah some rifles are just dogs Dave and it doesn’t matter who’s pulling the trigger! We proved that the other weekend.

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Has anyone thought also about the negative pressure vacuum that is created which also causes mass turbulence as the projectile leaves the barrel? Or is this an unknown to you guys? After the muzzle blast there’s also a massive drawback into the muzzle. Don’t know if it will be relevant or if anyone ...

Re: 6.5 150g SMK

I've run them thru my 6.5 Creedmoor at an honest 2700fps (23" barrel) and my barrel is a 1-6.75 twist. I've only shot them out to 430 yards but no bullet failures. Accuracy is outstanding. I know the velocity isn't really high but twisting them out of a 1-6.75 twist barrel......if they are goi...

Pointy end of the problem williada

Dave, After much digging I think I may have found a major part of the issues I have been encountering with this Omark. If you can allow me to send you personal messages I will fill you in further. To be honest the smith who built this rifle should have his license revoked! Won’t be able to get to th...

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

In your moving graphic Peter you showed the blue line with peaks much higher than the main waves, this is in theory what using a tuner should be aiming to control, reducing the radical peaks, and potentially increasing or decreasing the frequency of the other waves thus reducing and or stabilising h...

[quote="Frank Green"]O.K. Bear with me for a minute and if this isn’t the place for this and should be in a different thread then let me know and please forgive me. On a short note we are talking harmonics and vibrations in relation to how the barrel shoots. Are we only talking the barrel ...

Re: Reloading Equipment

It's all about concentricity, for similar money you can have a basic arber press and a pair of wilson dies and chern out some of the most mechanically acutare rounds money can make. Maybe not on the couch but definatly on the kitchen table. Depending on calibre, qualtiy of action and chamber you ma...

Re: Reloading Equipment

http://www.midway-australia.com.au/lee-breech-lock-hand-press-kit/ Inexpensive, accurate, can be used anywhere (including on the couch or on the road or at the range) and I doubt you’ll ever buy a more expensive setup once you have this! Add a scale, powder, primers, set of dies for your caliber an...
