quote="mick l"] G'day all I've been sitting back and watching how this class could elvolve, and I worried to say the least. It's sad to see that the point of such a class has been overlooked by those putting rules down on paper>............... already we are in the same situation as every ...

Re: New Sporter/Hunter Class...is your club promoting it?

I only started shooting 12 months ago and wanted to shoot multiple disiplines being fclass/long range and PSR. And being New to the sport I only had a budget of $4000 for everything, gun/scope/safe etc. So made sense to buy a hybrid rifle and shoot off a bipod in FTR, now 6 months in I'm learning t...

Re: New Sporter/Hunter Class...is your club promoting it?

“where the guy who has $10000 to spend on a rifle is flogging the guys who can only justify a $2000”

You can still beat the bloke with all the gear and no idea.

As has been said, let’s just get people on the ranges and enjoying the facilities and clubs.

Re: New Sporter/Hunter Class...is your club promoting it?

I think this is, overall, a positive development. This should be considered version of 1.0 of the rules and it should evolve to meet needs and interests of those who do participate. The success really will be driven by how well it is supported at club level and promoted even. SSRs on the NRAA websit...

Re: New Sporter/Hunter Class...is your club promoting it?

Bruce, you make some very valid points. I think the name does need revision and your observations about attracting hunters into the sport sound valuable, would be keen to get your perspective on this in a bit more detail as it sounds valuable honing retention efforts. The biggest change offered by t...

New Sporter/Hunter Class...is your club promoting it?

G’day all Recently the NRAA has compiled and finalised the rules for Sporter/Hunter/Varmint class. This has been developed on the back of feed back received from us, members and interested parties across different state and territory associations. What do you think of the finished product? Has it hi...

Re: Just starting out

I fully Second what Barossa said. Start with .308 and learn with club gun for as long as you can or get a good tikka or a Howa And get it re-barreled. Shooting F-TR or standard will give you a good place competitively to learn and not get caught up with the arms race that F-open is and .308 is a goo...
