Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Someone said Black Powder was not allowed on a NRAA classification range. However we have a competition for them in the SSR's so I would say it is very legal. To answer the question of what a plinker is. It is someone who enjoys shooting without the added drama and pressure of competition. They coul...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Perhaps the classification of some ranges should be looked at to ensure that they remain relevant to the shooting community into the future. There are ways to modify ranges without necessarily needing more land or a bigger safety zone to achieve this.

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

wal, please explain " plinkers". bruce. Please explain why we need to create a new class for "plinkers" at club level anyway... Can't the plinkers just come and shoot.. The general conversation feedback I have heard first hand from people on social media goes like this. Visitor ...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Bruce it is not the hunters that really want to come to the range. It is the people that would like to shoot gongs or paper. You have got your % the wrong way around. Rifle manufacturers are not coming out with new hunting rifles. They are coming out in droves with the "tactical" which is ...

Re: George Wittorff hunter class

Forget the "Hunter Class" name and have a look at the rifles that the manufactures are currently selling. Like the Ruger Precision, Accuracy International. KRG these things are not light. They were never really meant for hunting. The sport that new shooters are buying into is "Long Ra...

Re: AUSTRALIAN FCWC TEAM SELECTION

I know what you mean Tim. In the ideal world, you would have a Captain who is perfect for the job, and then if that person does exist, they must be willing to put their hand up for the job. The reality is usually quite different, probably for other national teams as well. I think this is even more ...

Re: The Future

It is a bit of the chicken and the egg though. It is the VRA that normally tells us what days are reserved for pennants isnt it? Then we mark in OPM's and fit club events in and around that as best we can. Of course we sort of plan alternatives for days of OPM's but often the shooting members of the...

Re: which would you recommend

Theres no need to get on the bandwagon and do as everyone else does. However there is generally a good reason why a small group of barrels represent the majority of those being used. I think it would be investigating Bartlien, Krieger and Lilja to name a few they are all pretty much the same cost as...

Re: which would you recommend

Being acceptable for what is what the other posters are trying to point out. In Fopen you are at a 6 in barrel length disadvantage that could be in the range of 200fps. Not to mention the profile of the barrel. F open is a tough class many of the competitors have multiple guns in different calibres ...

Re: Alpha munitions brass

I had a few Lapua Palma 308 cases that had the flash holes damaged slightly during primer removal. The pin was not ground down enough. Anyway I drilled them to make them uniform only at 1.59mm not the 1.8mm of a large flash hole. The result was a 20fps increase in MV and a slightly higher ES.

Re: High power scopes and NQ mirage!!

I am uncertain if winding the power back helps to reduce sighting error, it certainly makes he target look a little more still. This is something I would really like to know as well. Mirage is often compared to the spoon in a glass of water I understand that may just to be illustrate two substances...

Re: Rifle weighing scales.

When it comes to measurements there is really no such thing as an absolute unless you are NMI, even then there are tolerances given for the standards.
