Re: The Future

Something to think about Trevor and others envolved at the VRA which I think would be helpful... Firstly new membership applications need to be made easier... This whole/current system is not inclusive to new members... Currently new members have to find an "excepting club" once a new memb...

Re: The Future

I just got home from doing a firearm safety course, as the young fella is getting his junior permit... When mention was made about reasons for owning a firearm, joining a club etc... The three examples were: SSAA Field and Game Australia Deer Stalkers Association I made mention of the NRAA/ VRA and ...

Re: 7 mm 178 copperheads blog

Geoff,

The 178gr bullet Graham has in his photo is not the 178gr VLD bullet you are thinking of which did require a short throat... This bullet is made on a new set of dies... With a 189fb it will seat 3/4 of the way down a 284 neck comfortably and touch the lands..

Re: The Future

I believe we need to get back to the basics of club orientation. I am definitely not against competition but I believe the pendulum has swung too far toward competition. Have a look at PM attendances -- mostly pathetic -- what does this say? It does not necessarily say there is anything wrong with ...

The problem here is the barrel has never been cleaned properly from the beginning, and the fouling has compounded up until this point..

Re: Cleaning Rods. Coated or not

I have never had a drama with dewey rods, i put my first product in with a can while the barrel is still warm and leave it soak for 4 to 6 hrs before I put a rod down.. First patch always will fly out the end with no resistance with alot of black and purple goo in front of it.. Good bearings are a m...

Re: Copperhead projectile approval?

"the nraa's cut" the bullet tax. rumour has it that there is discussion at high levels to limit fopen and ftr bullets, so a similar tax can be put in place. argument being that fstd and tr is shouldering an unfair financial burden compared to ftr and fopen. bruce. I hope that is just a ru...

Re: Copperhead projectile approval?

Alan To get the ball rolling you would need a State Association to put it to the board for approval. I would suggest asking Ken if he could handle supply first thou. Matt P Thanks Matt, asking Ken would be a first priority, if there was to be a follow on that members would benefit having his projec...

Copperhead projectile approval?

Hey fellas, With Berger bullets being harder to obtain in Australia, would this be an opportunity to raise the question about getting both Copperhead 22 and 30cal projectiles approved, for use in both TR and FS? - quality bullet made in our own backyard - gives shooters another option. - makes it ha...

Re: Reversing a Barrel when Rechambering

That's the thing Alan the barrels bore diameter will have a taper, and if you chamber it from the other end the muzzle will be larger... (This taper will be exaggerated as the barrel is a 260 Ackley and 600 rnds old and will have worn..)
