Someone is selling a 6.5slr reamer and dies on usedguns at the moment. It is not 260 improved but it is a very similar end product with a longer neck. Same parent case and about the same effort forming cases as well. Might be worth considering.

I am thinking about buying a Lyman gen 6 powder thrower. I know then can be accurate but what I am really interested in hearing is how reliable they are from someone who has owned one for a while. I have used a borrowed charge master extensively and it works well but is not without it's flaws. Reali...
Keith you are correct the rifle will get used primarily for tactical matches at 500m. After looking at the components last night I get the feeling the extra case capacity gained from the AI is going to get chewed up as I have to seat the projectile rather deep. I don't think the very slight advantag...
Hey Graham the cases turned up today as well as hornady 162 Elds. Thankyou very much for that. You weren't kidding they were cooked! I Have taken some measurements and it appears my measurements closely match yours. There is very little difference between the elds and the Bergers. With the .170 free...
Plumbs I have read your pages. I know you are stuck on the AI version and I understand why, but I am not yet sold and I think I may just run with standard 7-08. I have never had to fire form but I suppose it is not that big of a deal. From above post I am not sure, do you run any AI specific dies? I...

Wilson, I have made several that were incorporated into chassis I built. One for a Barnard and one for are ingrown 700. As I don't have cnc the easiest way to make the v is to step cut with a regular end mill then use a 45 degree chamfer cutter. I even noticed that Bunnings sells nice Sutton ones. Y...
Plumbs just re-reading your last post, I would have thought you would have got slightly more velocity then stated with a 30 inch barrel. Accuracy is king but do other powders give a bit more velocity? It really only matters if I go down south to compete, which I have been asked to do, as they someti...
Clever, I like what you have done with the case. The only thing that could throw that slightly off is the neck tension you are running on your die. Maybe it was a fired case? A 7mm projie will engage the lands at a diameter of . 282. With a 7-08 reamer at 0.170 free bore ( which ptg have recommended...
Thanks Graham. You couldn't by any chance take a measurement from the base of the case to the ogive when you get the chance. Free bore length is what I am looking for. Am I correct that they are Berger 168 vlds?
I hear you on the 6.5 options but I didn't win a 6.5 mm barrel. I am kinda limited on funds so this barrel will be going on my existing Remington short action in left hand. I considered the 7 x47 but after forming and neck turning for my .284 I want my brass prep to be as follows: 1 Take shiny new b...
I use a sartorius lab scale. It will measure 1 kernel. I throw under with a manual thrower then trickle up. I really don't know if it makes a difference but I am kinda anal. The scales are so sensative you can't have a fan on and breathing in their direction changes the reading.
