Re: nraa funding of overseas shooting

Perhaps the way to avoid this entire debate is just have more transparency so everyone can see where the funding comes from; where it is spent; and how those decisions are made. This is not a criticism of any of the people who give up their time to administer our sport but more a response to various...

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

Just read that the Mildura PRS event is already full in less than 24 hours - wow that is popular!

Can’t make the April comp but will get there this year.

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

I have enjoyed reading the range of comments thanks Graham. Looking forward to seeing some more PRS shooters coming to NRAA ranges to enjoy the challenge of long range shooting: surely we have more in common than we realise...

And can’t wait to have a crack at PRS! Might help my wind reading too.

Re: What Precision or Tactical Rifle setup do you use

So are there many stages where you have to use the scope for ranging (calculating distance)?
Or is it just best to have a ffp for holdover?
Btw thanks for answering my newbie questions.

Re: What Precision or Tactical Rifle setup do you use

Good info Kakadu. Had not considered holding still on high magnification (so used to shooting FClass where my comp NF rarely goes below 40x). Thanks.

What magnification do you use most of the time?

Re: What Precision or Tactical Rifle setup do you use

My NXS is 2nd focal plane but sub tends at 22x so I think it will work ok. Bought it for a good price off a bloke that gave FClass away. It’s solid. Can’t afford another scope yet.

Re: What Precision or Tactical Rifle setup do you use

I am going the easy option: I have ordered a Lithgow LA105 in 6.5Creedmore. Have MDT rings with the inbuilt spirit level and will fit either a NF NXS 8-32 or Comp scope. Ready to go!

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

This is only my 3rd year in FClass and I started with a varmint rifle. I have now had a dedicated FTR rifle built. From my recent experience I think it might be easier for a shooter with a good factory rifle (and a muzzle brake) in an appropriate caliber to be competitive in PRS then it would be in ...

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

As an aside I get a significant POI change on my 223 without/with the brake which is a pain. I have to take it off to shoot at North Arm. It is a minor inconvenience but is frustrating as I reckon I make more dust with my unbraked 308 than my braked 223. I respect the SSRs and want to avoid any comp...

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

Sounds good Graham: I was thinking of using my 223 with a removable brake anyway (feels like shooting a 22mag).
Not sure I can make the next one but I’m committed to at least having a go this year.
Even better if I can shoot FClass in the arvo.

Re: PRS IS COMING , WE HAVE TO EVOLVE !

It does look like fun! Thanks for the update. Many of us probably have a few rifles in the safe that would be suitable. Maybe a split comp where you start on paper/ETs then do the PRS stages might work to support shooters in both disciplines? Looks like a road trip to Dalby is on the cards! Anyone n...

Nice!
What are you mainly using it for if you don’t mind me asking? And which magazines would you recommend (AICS pattern I presume)?
Very tidy.
