Re: Just starting out

If you start with a good action it will stay with you forever. Whatever class you start in, you can always re -barrel into a different calibre. A club member up here in N.Q. has just re-barrelled into .284W and is doing quite well. What ever you do buy the best optics at the start and you will not h...

Re: Barrel Tuner for 7mm SAUM

I have used the Purdy PRX system on a couple of .284's and was quite happy with the results. Same with a 6.5x47 and 6.5x55 Rogue. All were made out of aluminium, so not a lot of weight to act as a barrel weight. Cannot see why they should not work on a SAUM.

Maddco Barrel

Just recently fitted a new Maddco barrel chambered for .284W. It took about 2 weeks from order to delivery. I have never had a barrel that ran in so easy. Actually the 9 shots fired were just wasted except for getting a zero. Procedure was shoot 2 clean, shoot 2 and clean shoot 5 and clean. Each tim...

Re: Ken from Copper head

September last year Ken sent me some trial packs of the135 & 140's from his new dies to try in my 6.5 x 55 Rogue. Both shot as well as I could on the days that I shot them. As I did not do any load development for the owing to limited numbers, I shot the 140's with the load I normally use behind...

Re: 155gr bullet choice for 1:13 twist

As to bullet twist calculators. If you feed in the data for a115gr..30 cal. in a 1in 17 twist it does not work. As the shooters who shoot a .30 B/R. what twist they use and the results, it works very well. even 1in 19 works. So do not believe everything you read. Cheers, Trevor. P.S. A .30 B/R won a...

Re: 7mm SAUM Rechamber/Barrel Life

Hi Keith,
With all your years of cleaning your barrels and others that have gone through your shop, how do you recommend cleaning a barrel? Everyone has their own ideas. Your idea might save some new shooter a lot of grief down the track.

Re: One Scope on Multiple Rifles

Hi Alex E, I do not swap scopes around but I do swap barrels and calibres on my long range bench gun. I have no problems with this, but your situation is a bit different. Removal and replacement have also not caused any problems. I think as long as you record accurately your scope settings for each ...

Re: Sighting Problems

Before I had my cataracts removed I had a special set of glasses made. Shooting eye prescription to suit sighting in that side, and a normal prescription in the other to see downrange. Worked well, and was easy to shoot with both eyes open. Hope this helps.

Re: New to bench rest shooting

Hi Ben,
The 1000 yd. and 600yd B/R. are not shot every weekend. Down the calendar from the TMRC. site and you will see when we shoot. Terry can certainly give you pointers on long range shooting. The B/R. side is a little different. Hope to see you one Saturday.

Trevor.

Re: New to bench rest shooting

Hi Ben,
Come out to the TMRC range Saturday morning. We will be shooting 1000yd. B/R. followed by the 600yd. B/R. afterwards. You can pick our brains.
Cheers,
Trevor.
