Re: 7mm SAUM Rechamber/Barrel Life

That really does look like a lot of copper. Any pics after a pasting? Chris G’day Chris, None taken prior to the shoot after the pasting and I haven’t JB’ed it yet. It might be worth pasting it with something like KG, see if you can really clean it up and try it again, you might be lucky and get ac...

Re: Question for the Omark experts

If the case is over sized or head space too loose mild loads could be slamming the case against the bolt face, but as Keith has said it has nothing to with the ejector missing. filling the hole would just mask a problem. Ahh maybe that is it, at the time I had just started shooting and I was full l...

Re: Question for the Omark experts

Chris. I have and still use several Omarks. I don't like having ejectors in target rifles so all of mine have had the ejector springs replaced with very weak ones that still leave it in place but not functional as an ejector. The reason I do this is to leave the design of the action and bolt head u...

Re: Question for the Omark experts

Agree with Keith and Phil. Overloading will cause brass " flow " with or without an ejector. Moderate loads do NOT cause brass " flow " unless you have soft brass caused by incorrect annealing. Barry At the time was shooting large rifle primer Lapua and there was marks from the ...

Re: Question for the Omark experts

43 of 2208 would be merely dribbling out the end of the barrel, I reckon 2930 would be a bit hotter than that. Not with the rather tight Archer barrels that were for sale at the time, that was the speed. Chris Velocity & pressure do not always go hand in hand. Some barrels will develop pressure...

Re: Question for the Omark experts

I hope if anyone is loading an Omark to the point that they are flowing brass back into the ejector hole, that they are never at the same end of the mound that I am shooting. Regards Malcolm. Dont own use an Omark anymore, long since moved up the food chain, but, with 155's my load was at the time ...

Re: Stock compatability

Most drill and tap the Omark, one screw hole is in the rear tang which is not ideal so most make them screw down like a Barnard.

Re: Wildlife on Eco Friendly Rifle Ranges

Fantastic picture Peter, one for those who think guns are all about killing wildlife. As far as the bird is concerned that barrel is the perfect perch.

Re: 7mm SAUM Rechamber/Barrel Life

Hope not a stupid question, but how about moly? 215's in a 308 need moly to keep pressures down so I really have no option. That said checking my med palma 215 barrel which shoots amazingly and it has 1800 rounds on it, wear is minimal and hardly any fire cracking, so plenty of life in it yet and lo...

Re: Silver Mountain SOLO ET's

More tests done and next week time permitting will shoot maybe 30 shots and log file them and plot them. From Sunday shoot tests target picked up shots 2 targets away BUT they had a red triangle and an * next to score indicating rouge shot. Daniel said he is working on firmware update to eliminate t...

Re: New Barrel??

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The barrel is Trueflite and had 2581 rounds through it. The Calibre is .308 I use 155gr Sierra Projectiles I use 45.8gn of AR2208 to get just under 3000ft/sec and I clean the barrel every time I use my rifle but I do not have good bore scope. It still shoots re...

Re: Silver Mountain SOLO ET's

SMT was set up correctly ie only score shots on target face but still having issues of it scoring shots from next door. Sent as requested backup file. So far not blown away with accuracy, but clearly something is amiss so hopefully issue is linked to both.

Re: New Barrel??

I depended a lot on the barrel too and I do wonder if moly does protect to some degree. I recently borescoped one of my .308 barrels that shoots 215 hybrids at 2700 fps which is just below the Belmont limit. This barrel is only a medium palma that dont normally work with 215 's and when I finish sho...
