Re: Varying powder charge summer/winter?

Thanks rod. Did a little digging online and in extreme tests (below freezing to high 40’s) RL 15 looks to be about 3 times more sensitive than 2208. About 1.6fps per degree vs 0.5 However that’s a basic interpolation of minimum and maximum and assuming the change is linear. It would appear between ...

Me too ie paste seems to be needed to get all the carbon out, just hoping there is another way like soaking in something..

Re: Carbon cleaning methods curious after borescoping club barrels

Thanks guys, Yes I heard about carby cleaner too, that is a consideration. It seems with all solvents we are only getting most of the carbon out not all, cant help wondering if the problem is these products are not in the barrel long enough to penetrate the carbon. Dont know just a speculation. Whic...

Carbon cleaning methods curious after borescoping club barrels

I have been keeping carbon in check by cleaning maybe every 150-200 rounds and every other time ie around 400 rounds examining the barrel with a borescope and cleaning then lightly paisting to remove the excess carbon. This works fine but would love to be able to eliminate the abrasives if I could. ...

Re: New to reloading, what equipment route is best

I have Redding dies but found runout to be far better using a 30 odd dollar Lee collet die (neck die). Reason they work so well is a mandrel goes into the neck and deprimer lines it all up, then a collet closes round the outside of the neck sizing it. What this does is makes the INSIDE uniform not t...

Re: Wanted - 230gr Berger Hybrids

If you mess with 215's moly then and wet moly (pm me if you want to know how) and use Palm brass you wont have any issues with pressure. I dont know anyone who got 230's to work, not saying it is impossible but some of the best in Aus have tried and failed. 210vld's are the easiest heavies to get go...

Re: Wanted - 230gr Berger Hybrids

Yes I know, but realistically 215's are on the ragged edge with a one in 10 twist. Apart looking at the drift tables I cant see a benefit of the 230's over the 215's due to the max velocity you can shoot the 230's at Belmont. Also with 215's which I made work well in some barrels I feel that you hav...

Re: Seb PodPad

Seems a no-brainer to me that a plate/board with some carpet or other uniform fabric on top will be more consistent than a Podpad ! Especially for free recoil as u say Chris. Go with a steel plate I reckon to gain a higher inertia value than a board gives. Why ? Because ya DON'T want the board or p...

Re: Seb PodPad

Others may chip in, but IMO if you like me dont hold the rifle the pod pad will likely give elevation shots. I have tried a few times and as the top of the pad is not flat and a small groove is made if the feet are slightly on the rise of the groove then when shot is fired the gun sits down into th...

Alan, Northern Territory RA are not providing F-Class badges at Darwin and also Alice springs. All on Kongsbergs. This doesn't worry me, I'm going, but thought some on this forum who are intending to go should know the conditions of entry. Sorry to ambush this post. Then people need to vote with th...

Re: Wanted Barnard Action or barrelled action - 223 or 308

My advice for what it is worth is get a .308. Missus was a steadfast .223 shooter as she said she did not like the recoil but went to .308 for team shoots, now she shoots 215's and the .223 has not been used in years (bolt and barrel).. The the tinkering becomes more than tinkering you will end up g...
