Re: Twist vs velocity

I think it was Harold Vaughn who did these similar tests a while back and found a similar thing, negligible difference in velocity from twist rates.

Re: MATCH RIFLE & LONG RANGE F CLASS ULTRA LONG RANGE CHALLENGE CANCELLED

Shame to hear that, i was looking forward to one of my most anticipated shoots of the year. Given the current situation, it is not too surprising though. Maybe you can run 2 comps next year?

Re: Chasing the lands is stupid...

. I don't understand - isn't this what we call load development and we shoot to look at it on paper. I dunno about all the pristine comments by others as well - someone like Tony Boyer would say - no point in checking ya load in a honey hole... There are different levels of pristine conditions and ...

Re: Chasing the lands is stupid...

While I do things a little different to EC, I do agree with the basic premise of what he is trying to get across. When you first start load development with your shiny new barrel with it 2 degree (or whatever) leade angle, you find that it shoots best with .020" jump for instance. Doesn't matte...

Re: NSWRA Queens Cancelled

I was very disappointed to hear about the cancelation of my favourite Queens, but given the zombie apocalypse going on across the border, it is not all that surprising given the demographics of those attending and the fact that many people travel from interstate to NSW Queens. They have previously h...

Re: Covid purchases...

While everyone is talking about spending up big, I feel it is time to think about Albert V W who is locked down in a community housing tower in Melbourne with his fellow African immigrants. I'm sure he would like to receive private messages of support in his time of need and maybe we can all get tog...

Re: Covid purchases...

so I can feel good about my carbon footprint. Yeh I'd go with that, buy an air rifle to offset the carbon foot print on your new 400hp 15L/100 Dodge RAM. :D :D What some may not be aware of is that trees breath CO2 so I’m simply doing my bit to help the planet.- bit of a greeny at heart really That...

Re: 1116 SEN NRAA

Does anyone have any recordings we can listen to? I would love to hear it, and it is not often I can say that about advertisements. Surely Albert "man with the golden tonsils" has a copy he can post?

Re: Concentricity

I have a loaded round straightening device which i intend to donate at the end of day 2 of my next Queens shoot to whoever is ahead of me. I have only used it once and it has been gathering dust since. It seems that when straightening bent rounds, the neck tension changes quite a bit, which hurts ac...

Re: Sweet's Oil

I have over a dozen barrels which are left stored with Sweets oil in the barrel and none have rusted internally even though quite a few have ended up with a little surface rust on the bare exterior. It does turn into a thick gluggy residue which will need a few patches of solvent to get out, otherwi...

Re: South Africa Postponed

We will soon hear what the exact dates will be, but apparently it will still be in April 2022. With many countries likely to still have international travel restrictions in April next year (including Australia and South Africa), it seems reasonable to postpone the event for another year. I heard the...

Re: RUN TOO FAST?

. Well my mind is blown   One gun man here, the thought of adjusting to a totally different caliber on a regular basis is beyond anything I can conceive! it's also beyond anything the wife would let me spend #-o James Yes I usually take a 6mm, a 6.5x47 (or slow 284) and a SAUM to a Quee...

Re: RUN TOO FAST?

I have a definite view on whether to practice with a combination which gives lots of wind drift, or one which bucks the wind very well, and that definite view is that it depends, could be either way. Different shooters minds work in different ways, and all can be right. It is like some people say yo...
