Re: 7mm 284

As mentioned, 9" will work fine with the 180gn pills, but if you go to 8.5", a 284 will handle this fine and will allow you to try the longer 183gn pills if you do want to try them. If you definitely only want to limit yourself to these 180gn pills, then 9" twist is simple and readily...

Re: What are you doing to stay sane?

450x Saum cases to neck size, neck turn , clean, prime, add powder and seat with 120gn V max rabbit bullets and 183 Sierras for lower pressure fire forming/practice loads. I have offered to neck turn, clean, weight sort about 500x SAUM cases for another shooter. 100x 300WSM 1000yd BR cases to anneal...

His earlier prototype used Coronas, but in a board meeting, his marketing division over ruled the R&D department and changed the design.

Re: Brass prep

I hate case prep and reloading . I would love a bullet Fairy!! Every time I opened up my ammo box , it magically refills with perfectly weight sorted , primer chamfered, neck turned , annealed , powder to the kernal , 180 hybrid to the 3 thou , harmonically tuned 60.10 ammo ! I’m with you...

Re: Brass prep

So you trim BEFORE you fire the cases for the first time? I only trim after first firing.

But I neck turn or at least skim everything as it wont hurt, it might help, and is cheap and easy to do with the case spinning in a hand held drill. (actually my new batch of brass is getting two neck turns)

Re: 7mm SAUM slow node.

I fired all my SAUM brass first shot with 180VLDs jammed at around 53.5gns old 2209 for around 2820- 2830 fps, so 284 velocities. I could get it nice and accurate, but the ES/SD was not as good as a full power load, but this wasn't an issue out to 800yds where it would still stay on the X ring. I fo...

Re: Nosler rubbish

I know it doesn’t help your situation but if you are after good quality, light, 30cal projectiles, I cant speak highly enough of the Copperhead 118gr FB. I used to shoot them in a 30BR but have also shot them in my 308. I didn’t really develop a load for the 308 but have no doubt they would shoot g...

Re: Shooting glasses for F class

I had my Decot Revel glasses specced with 2 separate lenses, in rose/red colour for bright days and a yellow colour for overcast days. With Decot, you can get your optometrist to recheck your eyes and add your prescription to your order. The optometrist who was the Decot dealer has left my town, but...

Re: have I made a mistake?

It is likely that your batch of powder has absorbed some water which has increased its weight, so you will need to load a little more powder by weight (but similar volume or thrower setting). It is also likely that your barrel has slowed down slightly with a few more rounds down its throat, so likel...

Re: Vic Queen’s 2020

Hi All, Only 9 weeks to go till the Vic Queen’s... Might be a bit early to start this but I’m keen for this one as I haven’t shot on a range yet in Victoria. Plus they use MANUAL targets! Rod won last year so I’m guessing it can’t be too difficult 8) As there’s a team practice afterwards there shou...
