Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Calling all trombone players.

Are trombone wave forms comparable to what happens in a rifle? Think of the slide as the bullet.

In "position", the slide produces an harmonic, a note, out of "position" it produces a clanger.

John Tracey.

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Williada, I have mistakenly assumed that the barrel is an open-end medium, without taking into account the BULLET. Does this mean that the medium has a closed and stationary end and a closed but moving end? If so, does this mean that new standing waves are being generated constantly as the bearing s...

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Hello Peter.

At the risk of being charged with hypocrisy, I have to say that you need to move on, rapidly, to RIFLE Behaviour Theory, or risk losing your audience.

Why do you persist with standing wave theory when there is no standing wave in a free-end medium?

Regards,
John Tracey.

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Hello Peter. Your topic has caught the attention of two of the icons of our discipline, Alan Fraser and Rod Davies; along with those of us who want some empirical knowledge of the building blocks of rifle tuning. Those who advocate, make, sell and use barrel tuners will be near breathless awaiting y...

Re: Barrel Behaviour Theory

Hello Peter. To what extent, if any, do the principles of standing wave patterns and harmonics apply to a free-end medium, such as a fitted rifle barrel? Does fluting lessen density, in the context of barrel wave patterns? If so, are there two boundaries and three separately located wave patterns in...

Re: MCSI, update needed

Danny.

Can you breakdown the scores to give the results at 500 and 900, separately? Previous results would be interesting.

John T.

Re: MCSI, update needed

Hello Danny.

At what distances are these teams events conducted? Is there a pattern, for example, are the scratch scores at short ranges fairly close, but the difference is larger with the MCSI adjusted scores? Does this imbalance lessen as the ranges get longer?

Re: tell me about tuners for fclass

Barry, Matt et el.

What about a "ploughman's tuner"?

30" x 1.25" barrel.
Counter-bored to 1.2" x 0.85"
OD threaded
2 of, 1.25" x 0.4" x 2.0" ring weights.

Forward movement is the prime requirement.

John Tracey.

Re: KEEP ME IN TUNE

Hello all. Assume that you have developed a "load" ( best-tested combination of brass, sizing, neck tension, primer, powder and load, seating etc.) for your bullet-of-choice that is "in tune" with your rifle to the extent that you have confidence in maintaining X-Ring (.5moa) ele...

KEEP ME IN TUNE

Hello.

Why does my rifle slip in performance?

If you have been lucky enough to have your rifle hit where you point it, what do you do when that stops?

Stop jamming.

There will be plenty to say. About 99% would like an answer.

John Tracey.

Error in my last post.

The vote in 2005 was for 2009, not 2013.

Re: FCWC 2021

Hello. The answer to the mystery (if there was one) of the NRAA bid is to be found in the Minutes of the 2005 Meeting of the F Class Committee. Go to the ICFRA Home Page, select "Minutes", then "2005 F-Class Committee". The voting for 2013, including 5 proxies (which must have in...

Re: FCWC 2021

Bruce, with respect, this is NOT "need to know". That is the fob off for mushrooms. Mushroom cultivators are invariably a self-centered and self-interested clique. If you want to ensure the decline of F Class in Australia, let the clique develop and dominate. If there is no openness in com...

Re: FCWC 2021

Hello Matt. You are the most likely Australian F Open shooter to know of this Australian proposal (in 2002, 2005?). A lot of misinformation has been bandied about. Some of it not relevant to the present. But it is relevant for us to know if there was a proposal in time past and what come of it. It w...
