Re: .308 F-Open/F/TR Projectiles

180gr JLK LBTs. One really good, consistent bullets at 308 speeds. Have shot them accurately out to 1500 yards. If anyone has any hit me up because I'm down to my last 1500. 200.20x's and Hybrids are also good. 185 Jugs, 215's, 208 ELMs, A-maxs, Sierras. They are all good. Nothing is better or worse...

Re: Drop tube

I just use an off the shelf RCBS one and don't have any dramas. I think it's about 150mm long. Using that I can get 49gr of 09 into Lap cases.

Re: New Barrel

You wouldn't find too many dud barrels from premium barrel makers. Most of the "dud" ones I'll think you'll find are from shooters with nfi. If you want to run in your barrels go ahead, but you did ask for opinions and that's all you've gotten.

Re: New Barrel

Do they run in Formula 1 cars? If you have a good gunsmith, you shouldn't need to lap anything in. Every shot you fire is a shot closer to the end of the barrels life. I have run in barrels in the past and have now given up, I have never noticed a difference in either accuracy, cleaning or barrel li...

Re: Savage LRPV 6BR

As the ad states, this is a Savage LRPV, not a Benchrest model. That would make it a factory rifle with a factory barrel in original condition apart from the modifications listed above. I do have brass and dies for the rifle, but as they aren't listed in the ad, I'm not selling them. Cheers.

Re: Rifle weighing scales.

Peter, As CRO of Victoria, perhaps you could persuade the VRA to invest in some certified weights. This would allow shooters to bring their own scales (or personal weights) to Bendigo to check them. I would want to hope all of the state associations have certified scales and appropriate check weigh...

Re: Rifle weighing scales.

I use commercial shop scales. You can pick these up at auctions from closing down fruit & veg/butchers/supermarkets/delis. If you buy one of these and invest in a check weight you'll have it for life and never need worry again.

Re: Loan of a flex pod

Tim, I think shooting off a flex-pod is a great idea and you should definitely use one if you are going to get serious about FTR. They are all the rage here is SA. You obviously noticed we were all using them at the Queens you attended. :)
