Re: Lee Collet Neck Die

The marks on the neck are barely discernable if you size the case, rotate slightly, and size again. Not a great fan of Lee stuff but have been playing with their collet dies lately with my 223, 308W and 7.5 SR and have been reasonably happy with the outcome. Quality is a tad variable though. I have ...

Re: NECK SIZING

Thanks you all for your replies, I did remove the firing pin to find the lands which worked very well, but im having trouble with cases once i try to neck size them. I am getting a different feel when I close the bolt. reading the die instructions it says to screw the die in till it touches the she...

Re: Hexagonal Boron Nitride

Actually bought some Isopropyl acohol the other day from Jaycar (closer to me than Bunnings). Reason for the purchase was to make a solution of WS2 for the same reason as above. I have one 6.5AI that has always been fed a diet of moly. I trialled HBN and didn't like the groups I got. To be honest I ...

Re: annealing made perfect

I have a Bench Source and have been more than happy with it. It is an extremely fast machine. I believe though Stuart Elliot may have recently trialled an auto feed for the AMP. AMPs are manufactured about 20 minutes drive fro where I live. Must have a look in one day. Have basically not bothered to...

Top Service From Australian Company

The other day I went to use my AnD Fx300i scales for my weekly reloading session. Total panic, as dead as a dodo. Traced fault to a failed power supply, phew. Had previously had contact with Julian @ AnD Australasia when he assisted me to set up my Fx300i to communicate with Excel on my PC. Sent him...

Re: Reloading press advice

You've got 2 different situations here. A need for a churnerouterer for the 9 mil in which case the Dillons are the way to go. With the F Class loading, speed is not the deal, precision is. Whether the Dillon are precision machines I cannot comment. I have lusted after a Forster Co-Ax for years. The...

Re: difference between magneto speed and Labradar speeds

Interesting discussion however you have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. I am happy with what my LR tells me but also let's be realistic here. We are discussing cheap (yes including the LR) consumer grade devices not military grade units costing 10s of 1000s of dollars. The MS and now the LR ar...

Re: difference between magneto speed and Labradar speeds

I did test Magnetospeed versus LR not so long ago. Used 2 Labradars, unfortunately not at the same time. Results were extremely close. Will dig out the spreadsheet and post it later. BTW V0 (muzzle velocity) is a calculated figure. The purists could argue that the MS measuring at the muzzle is givin...

Re: Carbon donut

You need to drop the "j" of the end of that link to stop the good old 404 error. Yes Tony Boyer's book is a gem. I have used many brands of powders over the years - Norma, VV, Nobels, Alliant, ADI, WW and the only time I got caught out with a carbon ring was several years ago with Winchest...

Re: 308 Palma depriming problem

Dremel cut off discs are brilliant when used side on but they shatter easily if too much pressure applied. Wear yer safety specs!
Don't even consider opening up the flash hole, you will ruin the benefit of the small primers on the Palma case.

Thank you gents, Hawkeye it is, someone said to me this morning, buy once cry once ........ I am now balling my eyes out ! They are not cheap, but hopefully it is a good investment, and in time, I can understand what I am seeing. I cried once and got the Hawkeye. I should though, have had an utter ...

Re: Use of a signature block

Well said williada and my commiserations on being robbed. With the likes of gang members, anti gunners and other freaks trawling all gun related forums and on-line auction sites I definitely prefer to be anonymous on forums. Here in NZ, on occasion I have easily linked between a local firearms forum...
