Re: Farley rest

Butch Lambert (Shadetree) makes replacement tension screw buttons for the Farley and yes, as Tin N suggests, try Stuart @ BRT.

Re: WTB Gempro 250

I am lead to believe that a lot of reloaders take their Lee scales a safe distance out into a paddock and shoot them :D I have recently assisted a new guy get started and recommended Redding but a pristine set of old Ohaus 1010s became available and he grabbed those. Just need to be careful with sec...

Re: WTB Gempro 250

Exactly the same experience. Bought 2 sets. The first set was returned for a full refund after a week. It would sit there and slowly ramp up and up and up. The second set I should have returned as well but I continued to put up with it until such time as the full refund period had expired. Its perfo...

Re: Cleaning Rods. Coated or not

Bit of irrelevance, maybe not. I am a Tipton Carbon fibre rod fan. I still also still have Bore Tech Bore Stix coated ones which I like because they are 56” inches long. At this length the handle doesn’t need to pass over the stock comb, something that if the comb is high and has no detachachable pi...

Re: magnaport.

Hi Bruce, I think Mialls Gunshop (BRILEY AUSTRALIA)in Frankston Victoria may do this. I know they use to do shotgun barrels. Their phone number is 03 9783 1576 Sorry to the OP for getting way off topic but in the 80's Mialls was my go to shop. Google street viewed it recently and it doesn't look at...

Re: Barnard Trigger Help

Probably not much help but I had one of my Barnards slamfiring. Brought it home and took out of the stock but couldn't fault it. Next time at the range it slamfired again. Found the stock ever so slightly interfering with the trigger. Relieved with Dremel and all good. One of my other Barnards, with...

Re: electric ear muffs for TR

After various brands of passive muffs over the years and an early set of Danish electronic muffs my muffs for the last 10 years have been MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X. Expensive but probabaly the best electronic around. Have thinner lower section on the cups that for me at any rate doen't interfere with...

Re: Trigger clean

My Jewell trigger started to not cock so I flushed it with lighter fluid as Jewell recommends. Shook dry, reassembled to action, still failed to hold cock. BLASTED it with WD40, blew out with dry air and all good. To give lighter fluid its due though it probably is effective but in my case obviously...

Re: Omark scope base fit a Nielsen?

Maybe not much help to you but I fitted a 17 MOA Barnard rail to my old Omark. The action diameters Omark to Barnard are not quite the same but the Barnard rail design lends itself to fitting to the Omark at least. I bedded my rail with a Loctite metal filling compound but normal bedding compound eg...

Re: Tobler Actions

wilson85
Any chance of a photo of the action?
I posted a thread back in 2014 asking for help to identify an action belonging to a mate. His action was also similar to an Omark. No one could help at the time.
Unfortunately the photos I posted of it were in Photobucket so have gone.

Re: Tobler Actions

I sill have a Tobler on my old Omark. It has been an excellent barrel. Bought from Dennis many years ago.
Drove thru Robertson a few years ago. Didn't even think to call in.

Re: Barnard action

thx, 6.5x55ai What barrel life are you getting with the 6.5x55ai?? I never got to “burn out” my Ackley barrel as I mothballed it at 800 rounds and switched to a 284W. At that stage accuracy was still excellent with no random fliers yet occurring. The bore scope showed erosion, obviously. I have mis...

Re: Barnard action

Peter Out of interest did you measure the extractor groove diameter on your new brass? I'd be interested to know although it may not have a lot of relevance between your brass and mine given different ages lot numbers etc. That's the ultimate place to measure for head expansion but to do it properly...

Re: Barnard action

agro I have just done some measurements and will need to modify what I said slightly in my previous posting. My first Barnard was actually an 03 year of manufacture and the bolt face was opened out to 0.483” for the 6.5 Swede. I don’t know the exact measurement of the bolt face prior to it being ope...
