Re: 28 Nosler

i have a 7mm stw. shot 2 ranges of 10 to count, and han noticeable throat erosion. it is a great round for certain hunting applications, but not for target shooting. if you go hunting with these high speed rounds, controlled expansion bullets are required for all but varmints. in fact my small game ...

Re: 6.5 Grendel for hunting

it might suit that job well.
low recoil, easy to shoot, and accurate, with good barrel life.
those varmint bullets might minimize riquochets.

bruce.

Re: 6.5 Grendel for hunting

that would depend on the game and the range. those bullets are generally designed for varmints, so terminal ballistics might be unsuitable for bigger game without perfect shot placement. a low energy cartridge would also demand perfect shot placement on game other than varmints. how much energy is s...

Re: forget tuners - get these

it appears that since the 1950s us military, as well as winchester primers have had aluminium in them to make igniting ball powder more reliable. 50 browning and 20mm cannon likewise. years ago i recall that winchester claimed no need for magnum primers (theirs) in large case slow burning powder loa...

Re: forget tuners - get these

the priority seems to be lead free status.
the question is does the aluminium turn into an oxide.
aluminium oxide is a seriously good abrasive.
then there is longevity, reliability etc.

forget tuners - get these

these will be so consistent that tuners will be obsolete.
lets hope that the USA fclass team does not have exclusive access to them at the next worlds.

Re: promoting the nraa image

an interesting thought came to me.
if we relate the current membership situation to blood loss, how ironic is it that donating blood might help arrest this.
the platelets in blood are what stops bleeding.
perhaps the nraa board could do with some.

Re: What calibre?

there seems to be a 6mm creedmoor now.
this might be a good one to just load and shoot.
multi choice good brass available now too.
if you have to neck down 6.5 creedmoor cases, this is a non event.

Re: What calibre?

CREEDMOOR is the correct spelling. named after tha creedmoor range and competitions held there starting 1874 between the irish and anericans. so called as the land was originally owned by farmer creed, and being a bit swampy was referred to locally as a moor. the original matches were 800, 900, and ...

Re: promoting the nraa image

mike, you are typical of the civic minded people who give blood just because it is a good thing to do, and do it no questions asked. how many like you aleady exist in our circles? if this was set up the assn would get instant benefit and recognition. if we add more donors, it is win win. it could se...
